THE SNIDGET - Hogwarts and Magical News Bulletin - January 2019

MAGICAL NEWS BULLETIN
JANUARY 2019 EDITION

THE SNIDGET is a periodical bulletin from the magical world. There will be plenty of news about Hogwarts and the wizarding world, and other fantastic literary places. It will be dropped off in the library by Owl Post every second Saturday of the month.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

WELCOME 2019!

How many of you do re-reads of one or all of the Harry Potter books every year? I started listening to Sorcerer's Stone in September on Back to Hogwarts Day, while following along in the illustrated edition, and intended to finish by Thanksgiving to start listening to Chamber of Secrets. However, that didn't happen. I got about 50% of the way and then became super busy. I intend to pick up where I left off tomorrow and hope to be finished by the end of January. Has anyone else tried listening to the audio and following along in the illustrated edition?

Since I've known fellow Potterhead Michelle, from IN LIBRIS VERTAS, she has been participating in the HOGWARTS RUNNING CLUB events. They raise money for charities and you get a cool medal for participating. Running (walking, jogging, skipping, dancing; they're all allowed) is a great way to start the new year! This is a virtual race, so it's on the honor system for completion. The next EVENT (shown above) supports PROJECT PURPLE finding a cure for pancreatic cancer, in memory of Alan Rickman. They have more than one event a year.

This is the level one and two board for the HARRY POTTER BOARD GAME READING CHALLENGE. It's hosted by Noura from THE PERKS OF BEING NOURA. There are seven levels. I'm going to give it a whirl!

It's official the ILLUSTRATED GOBLET OF FIRE publishes in October!

There has been no cover art released.

Thursday, February 7th is HARRY POTTER BOOK NIGHT. The theme is Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. And yes, I know it is primarily a location celebration: libraries, bookstores, and schools, but I'd like to do something... should we read and post photos to Instagram, Facebook and Twitter? Eat wizarding themed snacks? I'll post some witchery cookery snack recipes in the next PROFESSOR BUMBERSHOOT'S blog post. If you make one you can take a photo and I'll feature it here on the blog! The official hash tag is #HarryPotterBookNight, but also tag your posts with #TheSnidget so I can find them easily. What other things can we do?
Are you planning on re-reading any of the HP books this year?
What other things can we do for HP Booknight?
