THE SNIDGET- June 2019 - Magucal News Bulletin - Wizards Unite - Vans Harry Potter Apparel - History of Magic Ebooks

MAGICAL NEWS BULLETIN
JUNE 2019 EDITION

THE SNIDGET is a periodical bulletin from the magical world.
There will be plenty of news about Hogwarts and the wizarding world, and other fantastical places. It will be dropped off in the library by Owl Post every second Saturday of the month.

WIZARDS UNITE, the Harry Potter mobile app game similar to Pokemon Go, released another trailer video. It doesn't appear it is going to be available for Kindle tablet devices, but I joined anyway because they have downloadable posters that are very nice!

You can crop them down like I did...

I'm going to print this and frame it!
Someone on Instagram said the game play information and Youtube videos also add to canon. I haven't delved into the site that much, yet, so I'm not going to say yay or nay about that at this point.

I usually don't/won't put unboxing videos under Muggle Stuff, but at
1:52 Demi shows all four of the Geek Gear house wands together, and you will see why I was sorely disappointed in the Ravenclaw raven head wand. It's the only one that looks like plastic. I think Hufflepuffs will be disappointed with their "badger" wand, too. It looks like a bear climbing a tree. Badgers have pointy noses and they don't climb trees! All that aside, I love Demi's uploads; she doesn't yabber on and on to make her videos longer. She also slings slang way less than other unboxing YouTubers. There are two booktubers I have had to start muting while watching their unboxings because 75% of what comes out of their mouths is the dreaded "wanna" "gonna" "gotta" "kinda" "tryna" "um" and "like" train. Pretty soon some booktubers will just be pointing and grunting at the merchandise.

The full line of VAN'S HARRY POTTER shoes and apparel has been released. The above shoes are $80.00! That's almost twice as much as my son pays for his Converse hightops! The hoodies are $60.00!

Good grief, I'd rather pay an artist $50.00 on Etsy for a unique hand painted pair of sneakers and buy HP clothing from OUT OF PRINT because they donate books and support literacy programs. Across social media everyone has been loudly complaining about the lack of styles for Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, but very few have complained about the prices. I am quite surprised. I guess I'm poorer than I thought! Ha ha.

There were both new content whoops of joy, and jeers calling out greed when POTTERMORE announced four "new" ebooks hitting the virtual shelves. Many were calling foul because there were no physical copies planned, but they were all being overly emotional for nothing. I say, for NOTHING!

The mini-ebooks are all excerpts from this title, pulled together in subject groups. This book comes in a beautiful hardcover.

I will say one thing, the press release for these ebooks brought out a lot of haters, from calling JKR names for being greedy, they seem to have forgotten how much she donates to causes and charity, to people complaining about too many new stories... but we haven't really had anything new since The Cursed Child in 2016.

I'll be posting an Enormous Purple Megaphone feature about this Potter hate wave, soon.

PAPERBACK

ORIGINAL EDITION COVER ART

There is a BBC TWO documentary based on this book, and it appears that you can WATCH IT IN FULL on Daily Motion. I'm not totally sure, but I watched a few minutes of it and there are extended commercials, so I have my fingers crossed it is the full documentary. If you get a chance to watch it before I do, let me know!

Stay magical, my friends!
