The author read narrations are the way to go with her books. I listened to THE POET X with author narration and it was superb; this one is even better!

The insight this author has concerning human nature is incredible. Also, sorry everyone who thought this was going to be magical realism; everything is scientifically explained. I will definitely seek out this debut author's next book! Again, some reader on Goodreads erroneously categorized this book as NA, based on the MC being college age, and gave it two stars because she thought it was bad writing, not realizing it was her inability to grasp the concepts of the book as Literary Fiction. She said it was a lot of pretty words that didn't say anything. Good grief.

I wanted to wait until today to start reading this book because the Stonewall Riots started on this day fifty years ago. I thought it was a fitting way to commemorate the beginning of the riots, which lasted for seven days in New York City. I am curious to see how the police brutality during this historical event will be handled in a story for elementary grade aged students.

Current buddy read with my son.
