DOG DAYS OF SUMMER

The second annual DOG DAYS OF SUMMER celebration, which I am co-hosting with Jolene from JO'S BOOK BLOG, is in full swing. Jolene is donating $1 for every dog book we read in August, up to $100, to her local dog rescue! I have a $12 international e-gift card giveaway going on: HERE, and Jolene has a dog book giveaway going on: HERE. Please join us! 🐾

We had flooding. I'm okay.
Baz Manchild is well enough to go back to university. He starts Wednesday. We were able to save enough money, when combined with a four month payment plan, that he didn't have to take out a school loan. He's a senior now!

IN MEMORIAM

My buddy Jani passed away seven years ago on August 11th. I am very thankful I did not inherit the same genetic predispositions for addiction, which in the end took his life, because I was living the same lifestyle for many MANY years. I was able to drop into a stay-at-home mom mode like flicking a switch, but Jani was always tortured by not being able to be there fully for his kids because of alcoholism and drug addiction. He was a sweet, super supportive friend. I see so many people passing judgement on addicts based on their own, or others', experiences and it is so wrong.

R.I.P. Aretha. You gave the music world so much, in so many different ways.
1942-2018

My son bought me sunflowers when we went grocery shopping because I had had an awful week.

STACKING THE SHELVES IS HOSTED BY:

BOUGHT
BETTER WORLD BOOKS & BOOK OUTLET
(books 1-3 in hardcover)
BOOK OUTLET
I had started collecting children's dragon books for my Someday Grandchildren, and have decided to collect witch books for these nonexistent grandchildren, too. Ha ha! There is a fourth book and a fifth one coming out soon.

(Sandrider & Starchaser)
BOOK OUTLET
I finished collecting the Septimus Heap series in hardcover, so I decided to collect the second series set in that world. I still need the first book. I don't think anymore are planned.

(Dune series hardcover for my collection)
BOOK OUTLET

(with full page glossy color illustrations in hardcover)
BETTER WORLD BOOKS - Used
I am collecting multiple editions of this book in hardcover.

(Fairyland series book two)
BETTER WORLD BOOKS - Used
This completes my hardcover collection of all five books!

(Discworld series 39.5)
BETTER WORLD BOOKS - Used
I am collecting all of the Pratchett Discworld books in both paperback and hardcover. This one happens to be a no dust jacket hardcover.

BOOK OUTLET
Another witch story in hardcover for my Someday Grandchildren.

BOOK OUTLET
A friend of mine, who is a Wonderland aficionado, was heartbroken that my vintage Alice in Wonderland did not have the original title, so I remedied that situation by buying this edition. As you can see above in the sunflowers picture it as lovely art printed on the naked cover. I wouldn't rule out eventually buying multiple editions of this book, too!

BOOK OUTLET
I will be collecting Sendak books for those aforementioned future grandkids. We already have Where the Wild Things Are and a funny poems book. This might be going back because it was listed as a hardcover, but it's a softcover. It's tiny and thin, so to me it is not worth the $3.98 I paid for it. How in the world was its original price $6.99?!

BOUGHT EBOOKS
These are all special price for Month9 Book's DRAGON WEEK, and seeing I already had the first two, Avian and Fledgling, I bought the rest. I am going to binge read them in January and Nicole is going to give me some swag to giveaway on my series review! If you go to my Facebook giveaway page: HERE, there are some Dragon Week contests listed.

WON
GOODREADS
I won this on Stacee's blog, ADVENTURES OF A BOOK JUNKIE, when she hosted a publisher's contest for the movie tie-in edition. It's a paperback, t-shirt, movie poster, and pencil pouch. I'm going to go on the swag trading page on Goodreads to see what might be there for the t-shirt and the poster. *I may have won it from Stacee on Twitter now that I am thinking about it.

GOODREADS
I won the ebook from Goodreads. I saw this when Danielle reviewed it on BOOKS, VERTIGO AND TEA. She loved it and it looks fantastic.
