THE SUNDAY POST #55

THE SUNDAY POST is a weekly wrap-up feature hosted by Kimba at the CAFFEINATED BOOK REVIEWER.

My eye is better. I still can't put my contacts in, but it doesn't hurt half as much as it did. The lovely spring weather has continued to spark a need to clean and organize in me, so not much reading has gotten done, but I did finally finish A Curious Tale Of the In-Between and take it back to the library. I am continuing to read Black Rabbit Hall. The cleaning bug is also why this Sunday Post is late.

I tell you all about my ARC April Challenge reading. I also welcomed a new TMTer, Michelle, from IN LIBRIS VERITAS!

I tell you all about Binghamton.
And what this has to do with my city.

Between my eye catastrophe and cleaning there were meager post offerings this week!

KINDLE DEALS
It is about a Theoretical Physicist who meets a ghost. It was a free find on ReadingDeals.com, but it is now $3.99.
Elizabeth from So Long... & Thanks for All the Fish told me it was $1.99, and then proceeded to convince me to buy it. It is still $1.99.
It is about Australia and Classical music, so I snapped it up for $1.99 (also ReadingDeals). It is now $2.99.
It is about the the science and histories of the plants used in distillery of our favorite potent potables. Found it via ReadingDeals and it is still $1.99.
THE WEED THAT KILLED LINCOLN'S MOTHER AND OTHER BOTANICAL ATROCITIES
This book is by the same author as The Drunken Botanist. I saw it in the "also boughts" on Amazon. I wanted it for research for my Hidden Magic stories, so I bought it. It is still $1.99.
Here is an entertaining book trailer she did for this title.

NETGALLEY
It's MG and I loved the cover.
It is a YA about a grandmother/granddaughter relationship, which I love. I was denied on EW, but approved on NG.
The cover of this MG hooked me, and then the synopsis reeled me in.
Another MG with a stellar cover and summary.
I usually never find Adult Fiction that intrigues me enough to want to request an ARC, but this being written by a French author about a female concierge of a Paris apartment building was something I couldn't resist.

I have to have this to match the Happiness pillow I have.
Now all I need is a third black pilow that says BOOK DRAGON!

There's a new kid on the block. I like Jo's reviews because they are short and concise. Go have a look see and leave her some comment love: HERE.

Greg from BOOK HAVEN posted a question about time travel that I found very thought provoking: HERE

TELL ME TUESDAY
THE SUNDAY POST
I don't like the prompt questions for either of the other features I follow, so I guess that will be it. I should do some reviews then, I guess, ha ha. I do have a guest post I need to get done.

Don't forget about my GIVEAWAY!
There are two different daily entries, one for just dropping by, so visit often and enter!

Have a sensational week!

  1. I hope your eye continues to feel better. I have a cousin who lives in Binghamton (she does art therapy) and she likes it there. I know exactly what you mean about the wooden screen door in the mom and pop store you talked about- and love the old style diner too. I love stuff like that. I think the Binghamton visitors bureau could use your services. :)

Thanks for the shout out! I appreciate it! :)

    1. I might ask them for a part time job when I retire in a couple of years. Ha ha. So many of the "oldsters" in town bemoaned moving part of the college and dorms downtown, but it was the shot in the arm we needed after the loss of so many manufacturing jobs in the area. I love all of the art galleries, events, and hip eating places. Having the students downtown ius energising and volunteerism is way up there now. Does your cousin work with The Magic Paintbrush Project?

  2. Glad to hear your eye is better La La. Spring has gotten in the way of my blogging in general too (reading, writing post etc. ) but good that you did finish A Curious Tale Of the In-Between though. I don't think I'll finish another ARC or book for another week. I have one audio book that is at 90% so that'll save the week ;) If I can stop getting distracted LOL Every sentence I listen to I relate to my WIP I'm working on for the Camp NaNo and then I get lost LOL
I LOOOOOOOVE your pillows! I LOOOOVE everything in Cait's store. :) I was gonna get one of her mugs for my first 5K words but I ended up going with Evie's because she had a mug for both reading and writing which I didn't found in Cait's but my Society 6 wish list is full with Cait stuff :)
You should post a pic of how your sofa looks now :)

    1. I have to get a laptop skin from Cait's shop, but I am waiting for my son to decide to fix his old expensive laptop for me, if it is cost effective. It is bigger than my laptop. Everyone seems to be in the writing mood with the nicer weather, or maybe it is just the change of seasons because they are heading into fall in Australia. My only problem is that I got new ideas for a Children's chapterbook, instead of things for my WIPs, ha ha. So happy to hear you got writing done. :)

  3. omg you are TOO NICE. :') There is actually a black book dragon one, but it has flowers on it. I shall attempt a non-flowery version at some point. ;D THANK YOU SO MUCH THO. <3 Your support is ajfdksald so kind.
Alsoooo I got denied for The Loose Ends List on EW too. *cries* Maybe I should try netgalley?! It looks so good and I DO so love a good list!
I've also wanted to read The Elegance of the Hedgehog for aaaages, but just never get around to it because it's adult and I'm mostly scared of adult. xD But France! 😍 I do so love France...

    1. Yes, always try Netgalley. I got another book on Netgalley that I was denied on EW, but I cannot remember which one. Always try the other because I remember getting a book on EW that I was denied on NG! And yes, a nice plain black, no flowers, no pink, dragon pillow would be excellent. I am still such a tomboy. Hehe. :D

  4. Glad to hear your eyes are doing better. I need to do some serious spring cleaning but between watching Sophia, my VA work and blogging I am swamped. Hopefully this weekend I can begin. You snagged some great kindle deals. It now takes me two days to get through the Sunday Post comments, I apologize for being late. Hope your week is full of sunshine!

    1. No worries! Yay for tons of Sunday Post comments. Today was beautiful, but tomorrow night below freezing! I was mad at myself for not getting my herb containers planted, but not anymore. Ha ha. That new book deals email is better than Book Bub has been lately. :)

  6. Glad to hear your eye is starting to feel better. Onwards to a full recovery! Cleaning bugs are annoying. They take away from all those other things you could be doing. ;)

  7. I'm glad to hear your eye is doing better, but have you got it checked out by an eye doc? You might need some drops or something for it...

    1. My sister said the same thing, but it has been getting steadily better and there isn't any sign of infection. I was going to go on Monday, but it was so much better I didn't bother. (((hugs)))

  8. Hope your eye is better but if not get it looked at pronto!! Eyes are very important to use book bloggers!!!!! The girl who drank the moon's cover reminds me a little of The Night Parades cover, will need to check it out.

    Have a good week!

    1. Yes, I was drawn to the cover immediately just like with The Night Parade. Yeah, ha ha, reading would be rather difficult. I guess I could wear an eye-patch like a pirate. Arrrrrrrgh. :)

  9. So glad your eye is a bit better, that's a relief!

I hope you enjoy Poison Study - that was a good deal! I really liked it, but the next two books in the series were kind of... not as good, for me. I'll be interested to see what you think once you start reading it!

A friend mentioned that he loves The Elegance of the Hedgehog a few years back, and it's been on my list ever since! I did think of getting that ARC as well, because I'm really intrigued. I hope you enjoy it!

    1. I think the Hedgehog book just became available for the US, that is why Netgalkey has it now. You should check and see if you can request it from the UK. :)
