TELL ME TUESDAY #88

TELL ME TUESDAY is a floating feature, depending on your reading style, where you tell us what you read last, what you are reading now, what you will be reading in the future from your tbr pile, and why. I am oh so curious why people read what they read. So tell me!

I participated in Annika from HIDING IN BOOKS' holiday weekend read-a-thon, so I am combining my wrap-up post here with my TMT post.
I read...
MIDDLE GRADE CHRISTIAN
Predictable and very Christian belief pushing in the end. This was supposed to be Middle Grade Magical Realism, but it is a Christian book. There was also a pretty disturbing scene near the end that I personally thought was not MG appropriate. Parents would need to read this book first to make sure it aligns with their religious/spiritual beliefs. I read this title on Friday.

MIDDLE GRADE FANTASY
There was a writing component to this read-a-thon to write an hour a day. I read 25% of SUNBOLT on Saturday and then decided to write for a while. Well, I ended up editing my Wattpad story for hours! The first two chapters are up now. Thanks Annika for kicking my butt into gear!  I made the cover from free clipart, font, and effects. Do you like it?

CHILDREN'S FANTASY
This is a Children's chapter book with a Redwall flavor. The illustrations are wonderful. I read this story on Monday.

So two read-a-thon books (and over half of another) and way more than four hours of writing!

NOW
YA FANTASY
I read another 30% of SUNBOLT on Sunday and intended on finishing it for the read-a-thon, but I got on social media and POOF, the time was gone. I am continuing to read this and am adoring the heroine. There is a SUNBOLT BOOK BLAST going on this week, so it is only 99 cents as an ebook, and the sequel MEMORIES OF ASH is a 99 cent ebook pre-order special.

NEXT
MIDDLE GRADE PARANORMAL
I have to finish this because it has to go back to the library on Friday.

What are you reading? Tell me!

  3. I'm seriously curious of A Curious Tale of the In Between. That's too bad about The Inn Between. I love the cover and the title catches my attention but I don't like being preached to and the non-MG scene makes me hesitant at the end.

    1. I have not been having very good luck with MG ARCs lately! I need to go back and check to see when I last had a four or five star rated Middle Grade. I think it has been a while. :)

  4. Social media is so addictive sometimes- especially when you find really awesome bookish discussions. I am reading Belladonna by Anne Bishop, which is the second in a rather addictive (which seems to be the theme of this comment...) series. I hope you like Sunbolt!

    1. I need to check out that author. I love the title of the book. Twitter is the worst for me because I have both my Harry Potter friends, and book blogging buddies. There is always someone on , too. :)

  5. Aaaah, social media. It is like a black hole we all willingly step into, but on the other side we're left standing in denial about how long we were actually in there in the dark..
I'm currently reading A World Without Princes after finishing A School for Good And Evil this morning. I enjoy children's books too much and this one has caught my eye for a while so I figured I'd give it a shot! It's been decent so far - a very average rating of 3* I think. It's mostly centred around the princess vs. the witch, and I am finding it rather grating that the awesome sarcastic gothic chick is turning into the mopy, useless princess.. but I keep reading so there's something there.

    1. I kept reading a couple of MGs a while ago because I thought there was going to be a growth arc or change arc, but no, both books' MCs just stayed bleh. Ha ha. I had been reading quite a bit of Middle Grade, but I think I need a break! :)

  6. I'm so glad you ended up doing so much writing as well! That's great! Thank you again for taking part and being so involved, it just made me so happy!
I do like your cover, especially seeing how hopeless I am with making this stuff. Can't wait to read Sunbolt, based on what you've said about it :) I'm also curious to see what you think of A Curious Tale of the In-Between - I keep seeing it around and it sounds interesting!

    1. I love the writing in A Curious Tale, but there is a graphic description of a suicide on the first page, and seeking it is a Middle Grade, I had definite problems with it. Thanks for hosting the read-a-thon, it was wonderful fun. :)

    1. And Twitter is the worst of them all! At least on Facebook not too many people end up being on there at the same time I am, and once I am done reading my feed that is it, but Twitter... there is always someone on Twitter to talk to. :)
