TOP FIVE FRIDAY #NINE

TFF is based on TOP TEN TUESDAY by The Broke and the Bookish. I always frown in a defeated manner trying to come up with ten answers for TTT so...

FIVE CHARACTERS I JUST DIDN'T CLICK WITH

#1. GINNY
In the books Ginny was as interesting as cardboard and as annoying as a gnat. She was strong though, so I guess she was corrugated cardboard, and at times she was bossy, so I should say she was a housefly. I was sooooooo disappointed when she ended up with Harry. I think a much more interesting match would have been Malfoy, but they were cousins, although how distant of cousins were they? I wanted Harry to be with Luna.

#2. & #3.
HAZEL GRACE and AUGUSTUS
Yes, I said Hazel Grace and Augustus! Two teenagers trying too hard to be hipster. Even the fact that they were both terminally ill couldn't wash that bad taste from my mouth. You would think that being terminally ill would make them want to be more authentic.

#4
PEETA
Yeah, sorry. Ninety percent of the time Katniss was either thinking for him, taking care of him, urging him on, arguing with him, or dragging him along like a sack of tomatoes, and that was ultra annoying for me. Just like dealing with an unmotivated child.

And last but not least...
#5. BELLA
This was my very first DNF. It was long before I was blogging so my dislike for this story was not influenced by anyone.
Don't be sad...
LET'S DANCE!

What characters have you had trouble befriending?

  1. Hahaha I love this and I have to say, I'm on the same page as you with Peeta! I mean, I guess he was sweet and all but he seemed a little too passive in everything :S

    1. I think he had a lot to do with my descending ratings as the trilogy went along. :)

  2. Oh god, how did I forget Bella on my post. Bella is awful...just terrible.
I wanted Harry to end up with Luna too, they would have been perfect for each other. Luna with her beautiful optimism and Harry with his brash need to take care of everything, both with the understanding of what it means to lose someone and helping each other live life to the fullest. *sighs* Perfect.

    1. Maybe we need to write a fanfic where Ginny dies in a broom crash and Luna's husband is trampled by dragons and they end up together like a wizarding Brady bunch!

  3. YES! SO MUCH YES! I totally agree with you on Gus and Hazel. Mostly Gus. He COMPLETELY lost me on his whole stupid cigarette metaphor thing. I also did not like Bella. And it only got worse when I was forced to watch the movie by my sister in law. :)

    1. My sister is a Twilight freak! One of her sons enjoys the movies, so I have been joyously free of having to watch any of them with her. Ha!

  4. Yep totally agree with Bella, cannot stand her. Have not read the John Green book but they look like hipster types and that would do my head in!

Ginny I didn't mind in the book but I hated her in the films!

    1. Ginny was creepy in the movies! Ha ha. I am not going to read anymore John Green. It was really not my thing at all.

  5. HAHAHA! Thinking about it, Twilight may have been my very first DNF, too! I was in third year of High School when this book was the shit, and everyone keot raving about it, so obviously, I decided to read what it was all about. I only got into 50 pages before I closed the book, shook my head, and said, "I haven't read a lot of books, but there must be stories better than this?"

I couldn't really connect with Ginny, too. I mean, I know she was a cool character, and I appreciated her in the background, but other than that? No emotional investment. That's why I was so sad when Ginny x Harry happened ;_; I wanted him with Hermione! XD

    1. I think I got about 50 pages into Twilight, too. I would prefer Harry with just about anyone other than Ginny. Hermione would be my second choice. :)

  6. Omg that awkward vampire dance gif. XD I LOVE IT. Ahh, sadly I didn't connect with Bella either. I just...eh? I don't hate her but I don't care about her. Same as Ginny. *whispers* I still have 2 books to go, but I totally agree with the Harry/Luna ship now that you mention it. ;)

    1. Ahhh... I hope I am never giving you Potter spoilage here on my blog! I need to put a disclaimer at the beginning of every post. :)

  7. I really liked Ginny and was happy about the pairing, from the third book on!
Since I haven't read any John Green books, I cannot speak about the characters, other that I'm not in a hurry to meet them...

    1. My ex really liked Ginny and was upset when, for a nanosecond, it seemed like Luna and Harry might spark. I curse JKR for putting the notion in my head! Ha ha. I have heard that John Green's other characters are similar, so I don't think I will be reading his other books either. Did somebody once say he had written a Fantasy story? That might interest me just to see how he would manage the characters there.
