TOP FIVE FRIDAY #12

TFF is based on TOP TEN TUESDAY by The Broke and the Bookish. I always frown in a defeated manner when trying to come up with ten answers for TTT, so...

TOP FIVE BOOKS ON MY FALL TBR

1. OF DELICATE PIECES
This is the sequel to my heart-love book from last year, OF BREAKABLE THINGS. It was supposed to be published in April, but was pushed back not once, but TWICE, and pubs on October 20th. I requested an eARC a couple of days ago, so we will see how that goes. I pre-orderd the ebook, so no matter what happens with the ARC, I will be reading it soon! I am planning a reread of the first book in preparation for this title. I usually don't love YA Paranormal ROMANCE, but... the romance in this story is sweet.

I have the audiobook, so when I finish listening to WICKED, this will be my multitasking book.

3. AN INHERITANCE OF ASHES
I devoured this author's first YA title, ABOVE, and even though she is a #@$%&!, I am excited to read this one, too. It is an eARC from Edelweiss, and it publishes on October the 6th.

4. THE WORLD OF POO
I have only read THE COLOR OF MAGIC by Pratchett, but I intend to read ALL THE DISCWORLD BOOKS! I have WEE FREE MEN on my Kindle (which will probably end up being another fall read), then I saw this on Netgalley about a week ago and requested it right away. His final book, THE SHEPARD'S CROWN,  was also there, but was suggested for the UK and I was declined for that title. This is a novella, so it should be a quick fun read.

5. TOXIC HEART
I thought the first book MYSTIC CITY was marvelous. It was refreshing reading romance scenes written by a male author, too. Plus, these books are about mystics. MYSTICS, PEOPLE!

What is your top book for this fall?

  1. I'm currently reading The Martian along with another two ARCs (Gabriel and Never Never) and I'm loving The Martian! The narrator's voice is amazing and I hope the audiobook will do it justice!
I have the Inheritance of Ashes also in my NG list of ARCs to read, so I hope I'll get to it soon, and I hope I'll like it more than I liked Above since I DNFed that one...

    1. Everyone so far has raved abour the narrator for The Martian, so I am hopeful! Yes, Above was extremly quirky, and I think that is why I loved it so much. Speaking of Gabrielle, did Nikki have her baby?

  2. I had to get of my butt and check my bookcase, I knew I had seen Mystic City somewhere, it is on my bookcase, unread, I think I had better read it and catch up!

    1. Toxic Heart came out about a year and a half ago, but the third book has been released in Germany, so I am hoping it will be released here soon and I wanted to get this one read. The Martian is written in Diary form, I think. :)

  4. The Martian was a surprise best read for me. It is not a book I normally would like, but I really ended up liking it. I hope you like it too!!

  5. I'm sure you already know I enjoyed The Martian. I'm curious to see what everyone thinks of An Inheritance of Ashes, I love the cover and that's usually enough to make me curious enough to read it.

    1. Your review of The Martian was one of the reasons I looked into it! A lot of people didn't "get" Above, and I cringed at that because the one and two star reviews on GR because readers didn't realize the speech patterns of some of the characters were because they were separated from normal society. They thought it was bad writing. So it kind of proved her point about intelligent YA. I mean people who rated it one star because they "had to think" to read it aren't doing the YA reader's image any good.

  6. I am so behind books because of this slump because this is the first I've heard of any of these! Yikes! An Inheritance of Ashes looks interesting though! Will check it out! Awesome list La la! :) -Amir

  7. Ooooh, I'm really interested to know your thoughts of Toxic Heart! I read the first book and liked it a bit, and haven't yet moved to book 2. I think I should, though... and excited to hear AN INHERITANCE IN THE ASHES too, even though what she said about YA makes me still feel sad.

    1. You should read Above if you end up liking AIoA. The Middle Grade I am reading now got much better so I am making good progress. I should be on to Bobet's book soon. I really liked Mystic City; I think romance written by a male is more my cup of tea. Lol. :)
