TOP FIVE FRIDAY #11

TFF is based on TOP TEN TUESDAY by The Broke and the Bookish. I always frown in a defeated manner when trying to come up with ten answers for TTT, so...

This week was a freebie...

TOP FIVE YA PARANORMAL ROMANCE SERIES I HAVE READ

I know some of you are snickering right now because of all of the times I have said I am allergic to Romances, especially YA Romances! However, my son was seriously ill a few years ago and we spent a lot of time in doctor's office waiting rooms and hours upon hours in the infusion clinic, and I needed books that were easy reads so being interrupted constantly wasn't an issue. These books still needed to be decently written, so here are the series that passed the test.

1. The PARANORMALCY TRILOGY. by K. White
Protagonist Evie works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency. Need I say more? There were all types of strange mythological creatures in these books. And there are Faeries, lots of Faeries.

2. The RAYNE DUOLOGY by K. Cann
Rayne loves her summer job as a waitress in a tearoom housed in a spooky English gothic mansion. Celtic folklore abounds in these dark thrillers.

3. The HAUNTING EMMA TRILOGY by L. Nichols
Disappearing parents and brother, ancient family secrets, and a ghostly French chef. What's not to like?

4. The SPELLBOUND DUOLOGY by C.L. Shultz
Main character Emma + a fresh start in a posh NYC prep school = paranormal mayhem. Trust me, it was mayhem.

Now I am cheating a little on this next one...

5. The ANNA DUOLOGY by K. Blake
I really liked ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD, but started to read GIRL OF NIGHTMARES and found the beginning drab and lifeless, so I ditched it. but I am willing to give it another try.

  1. Girl of Nightmares was very good, you should give it another try at some point!
And the Paranormalcy trilogy was a lot of fun, wasn't it? I love Evie and her pink taser!

    1. I will give GoN another try. You know how you can get the feeling it isn't the book, but a reading mood? I kind of had that feeling with Girl of Nightmares, so it has always been on my list of retries. :)

  2. I read some paranormal romances but almost no YA. These all sound really fun. My library has Anna Dressed in Blood in audio and I was thinking about getting it for a Halloween-y type listen and now I definitely need to give it a try. It's too bad the 2nd wasn't as good.

    1. I should see if my library has the second one in audiobook. That would be great for a retry!

  3. I've only read Anna, but I loved it! I haven't tried the second book though. I'll have to check out the others. Great topic!
