She was writing based on canon, but she didn't read all the Oz books and got an important aspect of the story completely wrong. Plus, the writing was boring. This was a backlist Netgalley ARC.

I read 12 books! Can you believe it? My norm the last two years has been six books a month. I must admit that three of them were only around 150 pages, though. All of them had a dog in them for DOG DAYS OF SUMMER, even RUST AND STARDUST had a dog in it for four or five chapters. So... my DDOS co-host, Jolene from JO'S BOOK BLOG, will be donating $12 to her local rescue shelter for the books I read. High fives all around!
