TELL ME TUESDAY #81

TELL ME TUESDAY is a floating feature, depending on your reading style, where you tell us what you are reading now, and why, and what you will be reading in the future from your tbr pile, and why. I am oh so curious why people read what they read. So tell me!

Joining us this week...
Shannon from REX ROBOT REVIEWS
Go have a peek at their new grabs and tell them yours!

LAST
I just finished this YA Fantasty Western which published a couple of days ago. I liked it much more than I thought I was going to as I don't care for anything cowboy, but this book was about Native Americans, townfolk, and magcal beings. I got a totally different meaning from the virginity thing another blogger had me worried about, so all in all it was a good book and I rated it three stars. I would definitely read future books from this debut author. You can read my Goodreads review: HERE. This was an Edelweiss ARC and it counted toward four challenges: COYER, Diversity Reads, NG & EW, and Rock My TBR.

NOW
GOODREADS
I am solidly liking this book. It is a smooth read and the premise is fresh, but many of the reviews I read said it tanks in the backhalf. I am only about 37% in, so we shall see. It s a Netgalley ARC.

NEXT
GOODREADS
This is a Middle Grade about a rescued fox. I love foxes, but I just saw it takes place during one of the World Wars and I usually don't care for this time period. Anyway, it has gotten great reviews and I ended up liking that Western setting, so I will probably end up at least liking this one, too, and hopefully loving it. This one is an Edelweiss ARC.
What are you reading? Tell me!

  1. Burning Midnight sounds interesting and I'm intrigued by Pax. I love foxes but I'm a bit traumatized by The Fox and the Hound and I'm not 100% sure I've ever actually seen the whole movie. I sobbed just watching the previews. If you read it and enjoy it I'll add it to my TBR as long as no foxes are treated cruelly. It's my primary weakness when it comes to books. I'm not sure what my motivations are when it comes to deciding what book I'm going to read next. Pub dates drives it some but I've found if I'm to devoted to the list I end up in a slump so I've tried to relax about it.

    1. I finally did an ARC schedule because I started missing some pub dates and I forgot to download a few before they archived. Now I realize the only reason I was getting to do any personal reading was because I was missing getting some ARCs read. I agree, when you can't do any personal reading a slump starts looming. My ARC TBR calms down after May. I am going to try not to request much more. :)

    1. I thought I hated all Westerns, but I guess it is just cowboys I hate. Ha ha. I adore foxes. When we lived out in the country I thought I saw a fox in the weed lot and I got all excited, so I crept up to get a good look and it was a coyote! It growled and lunged at me. Yikes!

  4. I'm super interested in Pax! I actually really like WWI and WWII settings, although they tend to give me anxiety. Especially anything to do with the Holocaust. I read Sarah's Key and I almost gave up on it.

    1. I wanted to read Sarah's Key and I totally forgot about it. I should add it ti GR right now. I know, Schindler's List and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas did me in. :(

  5. I have Burning Midnight, but I haven't heard too much about it... I'm in middle of reading The Glittering Court and I'm really enjoying it, but haven't had a chance to really devote time to it.

    1. I am not sorry I read Burning Midnight, but for me it was another book that was five stars in places, and one star in places and averaged out to a three. I have seen good things about The Glittering Court. :)
