TELL ME TUESDAY #80

TELL ME TUESDAY is a floating feature, depending on your reading style, where you tell us what you are reading now, and why, and what you will be reading in the future from your tbr pile, and why. I am oh so curious why people read what they read. So tell me!

I need to tell you that my first month's worth of ARC reading was not so great, and it looks like it is going to run straight into February.
I had a meh... a DNF... and an UGH.
This was the UGH. Remember how I was telling you to run and request this title last week on my TMT? Well don't. The last 1/3 of the book ruined the first 2/3 in the worst way. This enchanting original fairytale turned into a drugstore romance paperback. It would be like if you were reading Harry Potter and everyone decided to start making sexual innuendos, talk about virginity, and force sexual intentions on each other. Ugh, just ugh.

Now I am reading this, and on top of the eh to bleh ratings I have been seeing from bloggers I follow, stating problems with aspects that usually bother me, too, I kept thinking something was missing as I read. I finally figured it out when I started reading again during my lunch break; the author hardly uses any adjectives or adverbs, and the ones she does use are very basic. I can feel a bout of skim reading coming on. *sighs*

This will be my next ARC. Let's hope it breaks the curse!
What are you reading? Tell me!

  1. I'm quite intrigued about Revenge and the Wild and I'm gonna wait and see what you think about it...

I've failed on The Waking Engine, I need to go back to it! Let me know when you're done with your ARCs!

    1. Ha ha, I stalled out on The Waking Engine, too. Right after the part I reread. I am going to try it again this weekend when I can sit with it for an extended period of time, and a large cup of coffee. :)

  2. I hope February turns into a better reading month for you! Since I'm moving, I'm trying to plow through all my physical book copies before I either give them away or pack them up. Let's hope there are some gems in there. :D

    1. Oh ugh, ugh, ugh, I hate moving in the worst way! I wish you lots of energy! That is why I left most of our stuff packed from when we were supposed to move four years ago. I have bern managing without my blender, my good china, and my Harry Potter books. Ha ha. :)

  3. I'm currently reading The Dark Days Club and Once Upon a Dream. I'm loving DDC so far, but haven't had a lot of time to sit down with it. OUaD is a Sleeping Beauty retelling. Aurora is my favorite, so I'm hoping it will be good, but I'm not blown away just yet.

I hope February is a better reading month for you!

    1. I have not read a Sleeping Beauty retelling yet. That and Peter Pan. I might look into that book if I see you have liked it. I hope February is better, too! I am surprised I haven't fallen into a reading slump. :)

  4. Oh I hate long strings of meh books! I landed in one of those a few months ago and I finally had to go to a tried and true and forget my whole schedule because I was about to hit a massive reading slump. Hopefully you land in something you love really soon!

    1. I might just give up and go back to reading the Scorpio Races and listening to The Golden Compass! I am surprised I haven't slumped. :)
