TELL ME TUESDAY #76

TELL ME TUESDAY is a feature that oozed from my post Twitter party fried brains. It is a floating feature (depending on your reading style), where you tell us what you are reading now, and why, and what you will be reading in the future from your tbr pile, and why. I am oh so curious why people read what they read. So tell me!

Joining us this week...
Go have a peek at their grabs and tell them yours!

As most of you know I squished one more book in for my Goodreads challenge on New Years Eve for a total of 112.
It is a Middle Grade standalone set in Japan. I adored it!

My first read for 2016 was...
This novella compilation companion to the SPLINTERED SERIES gave both satisfying closure and a nod to new beginnings.

I started my buddy read of VICIOUS with PILI, from IN LOVE WITH HANDMADE, for the ROCK MY TBR CHALLENGE. I am not sure what I think of it. It is quite different from A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC. It is more in the super heroes vein. This book also counts toward my COYER CHALLENGE.
While waiting for PILI to catch up a little bit I went back to my Netgalley eARC of FIRSTS. The sexual content is still making me *twitch* twitch* as it is YA.
I have no idea what I am reading next, but I hope after I sit down and date all of my ARCs that it can be a me read!

I saw this nifty mini-challenge circulating around Twitter.
No one knew the originator, but I stumbled across it visiting a TTT post. It is from Anne at MODERN MRS. DARCY. And, yes, I am going to do it, ha ha. It fits easily into my FIVE other challenges, so yeah, easy peasy! I will be posting the image at the bottom of my TMT posts every week to keep you updated.
What are you reading? Tell me!

  1. Yay to Untamed! I really enjoyed that one. My first read book of 2016 was Bookishly Ever After (very cute). I have heard so much about Firsts I should check it out eventually. I can't believe it's 2016 already. I actually preferred ADSOF to Vicious myself. I did enjoy Vicious very much but I'm less into super hero stuff than I am good old fantasy.

    1. It's funny how we expect a certain thing from an author. I wasn't't expecting Vicious to be Fantasy, but I guess I thought it was going to be Paranormal when I started reading it. Firsts has been pushing all of my bad buttons. Ha ha. :)

  2. I want to try the Splintered series. I love the covers and it's a little outside my usual genres which I'm trying to do more of this year. The Night Parade is on my TBR and I'm hoping to read it soon. MG is one of my favorite genres and one I read very little of last year. I chose a nonfiction book as my first of the year and I'm not really loving it. Luckily the mystery I'm reading as my first ebook is great so that makes it a bit better!

    1. Yeah, Firsts is bugging me big time, but I already knew that it would because it is a carry over from last year. I would DNF, but I want to see if the enlightenments in the book excuse the detailed sexual content. I don't think it will, but I have to be fair before I shred it.

  3. I'm dying to read Vicious! I can't believe the only book by Victoria I've read is The Archived.
I hope you and Pili love it!

    1. I hope you get yo read it soon! I had only read A Darker Shade of Magic by Victoria, so I certainly wasn't expecting super heroes. Ha ha. :)

    1. No rush. I am having trouble making headway with Firsts. It keeps making me mad and I keep stopping and hanging out on twitter! Grrr...

  5. I ordered The Night Parade from the library. So much for stick to my backlog of review books. Ha! I could not get into Splintered. It was actually a DNF for me. I'm not sure what threw me off, but I just couldn't get into it. And, I felt the same way about Vicious! I'm like, this is a good book...but SO different. (Side note though...is it February yet?!) I was going to do a TMT, but realized I was still talking about Winter. But I swear, I started it! So next week I should actually have different books to talk about. Haha

  6. That's why this feature is the "hippie laid back feature"! Did you get past the real world stuff in Splintered? It was the Wonderland scenes that I loved. That is why I only gave the second book four stars, too much time was spent in the real world.

  7. VICIOUS!!!! YAY!!!!
I read it last year and LOVED it! So good! I hope you are having fun reading it! V.E. Schwab is an amazing author, I love her writing so much.

    1. It is definitely a super hero book, which I didn't expect! It is a bit of a different writing style from A Darker Shade of Magic , too. The jury is still out on this book for me. :)

    1. I have a feeling that Firsts is all over Twitter because the teens are having a good old time reading graphic descriptions of sexual encounters, not really fit for YA. It is a NA masquerading as YA with the MC being made just shy of 18. I have been seeing this more and more, and as a mother I am not liking it. Some of the scenes are bordering on Fifty Shades of Grey.
