DECEMBER 2021 EDITION
MAGICAL WINTER HOLIDAYS
WITCHY HOLIDAY FOODS
Greetings, my magical mavens! This is a monthly sister blog feature for my popular Facebook page TOADSTONE & BUMBERSHOOT'S WITCHERY COOKERY and MAGICAL LIVING. My followers asked for it, and so it was granted! Jump on your broomstick and fly on over to Facebook and join in on all the fun we have; especially during the fall and winter holidays!
I am always encouraging everyone to seek out the magical places which are just around the corner from where you live! Don't wait to embrace and celebrate the inner witch and wizard in your life, only during Wizarding World trips and fantasy conventions.
This is one of the six vintage carousels in my area. All built around 1925. This particular merry-go-round is on my side of the city. It's also known as the Twilight Zone carousel because it was the inspiration for the carousel in the Walking Distance episode. Rod Serling grew up in my city. Every December for the past five years (except for last year) the large park, where this ride is located, is transformed into a magical place with twinkle lights, decorated trees; and every Saturday night in December there are hot chocolate tables, live music in the bandstand, hayrides, horse-drawn carriage rides (which remind me of the sleighs at Hogwarts), and the carousel is running. It's all free, except for the hot chocolate which proceeds go to charity. The merry-go-round is absolutely magical. If you want to see the entire park, and hear some of the Twilight Zone history, watch this visitor's humorous video, HERE, he cracked me up. Note that the "burned down" playground he is referring to was rebuilt within a couple of months after the fire, and can be seen in his video.
Talk about witchy holiday cookies!
These remind me of something Molly Weasley would make.
You could make a gingerbread Diagon Alley!
For Winter Solstice dinner I love serving vegetarian soup with whimsical bread.
TOMATO AND ORANGE SOUP
Put a swirl on any food and it makes it look magical!
I love serving winter storage root vegetable soups for Yule, like this potato soup.
Doesn't this look like something off the menu from The Leaky Cauldron?
