THE SUNDAY POST #19

THE SUNDAY POST is a weekly feature hosted by Kimba at the Caffinated Book Reviewer. It is a chance to recap the previous week, share news, showcase books and/or bookish things we have received, and tell about what is coming up on our blog in the next week. You can view the guidelines, HERE

THIS WEEK

MONDAY (revamped) REVIEW

Don't worry, it isn't a religious book. It is a wonderful dystopian set in future England with a fresh dystopic storyline. I loved it with a 4.5 star rating!

I also got the REVIEWS BY TITLE page done and up on the tabs bar.
It showed me that I need to do a lot more reviews!

The current ARC I was discussing in my TMT ended up being a ONE star rating. The story got so ridiculous I didn't want to finish reading the last 15% of the book.

TOP FIVE FRIDAY

Which ended up being a true TOP TEN because the feature prompt for TTT was "last ten books acquired", and I did five physical and five ebooks.

IN REAL LIFE

It has been HOT here, but all the worse HUMID in Upstate NY. My apartment building is older and because of the electrical wiring, we are not allowed to use air conditioners. I bought a quart of ice cream on Thursday and I just finished it (two and a half days later). My son thinks that is awful. Hmm... what do you think?

AROUND THE WEB

Erin, from THE BOOK NUT, posted a wonderful list of  LGBT YA, HERE

Faye, from THE SOCIAL POTATO, has taken her review comic, BUBBLES, mainstream with Bubble's very own comic strip! You can read it, HERE.

NEEDFUL THING

Details here at IMAGINE METAL ART.

NEXT WEEK

I am putting the final touches on my, THE INFINITE, review (sequel to the Gates of Thread and Stone). It will be going up on Monday.

I will also be adding the REVIEWS BY AUTHOR index to the Reviews Page.

There will be a TELL ME TUESDAY as usual.

The prompt for TTT, and my TOP FIVE FRIDAY is, ten  FIVE books that represent diversity. Maybe I will do a giveaway of  one of those paperback copies of my favorite DIVERSE YA that I have been buying from Book Outlet, ORLEANS. I think that sounds like a wonderful idea!

SATURDAY will be my monthly wrap-up STACKING THE SHELVES.

STAY COOL

Have a magical week!

  1. Oh, the reviews by author index sounds like a good idea. I don't have any indices at all. Perhaps I should think about it...

    1. I promised myself I was going to do more reviews, and I figured I would get therm done before I had tons of links to index. :)

  2. Now that you mentioned it, I need to to a review by author index. I'm curious now. I don't know how you can stand it without AC. I live on the Gulf Coast. It's averaging close to 100 each day and the humidity is really ramping up. Just came in from outside and won't be going back out there unless it's to swim in the pool. LOL

    1. My son hangs out at his friends' houses as much as he can, and I have really torn up and battered shoulders from a lot of heavy lifting over the years, so our freezer is full of ice packs all year round. i have the fan and my ice packs. It is nice not having to go into work in the summer much, but I sure do miss the AC there. We get upper 80s to upper 90s with 100% humidity usually, but we do get a few days over 100 every year. :)

    1. I know! The guy makes special orders, too, but very pricey. I was wondering if he would make just the mask on a rod to stick in a fire pit for a lot less. :)

  4. That fire pit is all kinds of awesome! Absolutely fantastic! That's awful about lack of air condition. I can't even imagine. We're at all heat advisories all the time here in Alabama and the air conditions are going non-stop. Hopefully the heat will break soon so you can get some relief. Exactly what does your son think you should do with ice cream? That doesn't sound that bad to me especially with the weather you've been having. Plus there's nothing worse than throwing out a container of freezer burnt ice cream. Have a great week and stay cool!

  5. Ice cream is a great way cool down, go for it! Gotta cool off some way. I love summer but not the heat, so much. I don't know how the early people did it without fans, aC etc. Must have been more tolerant, guess they didn't have choice LOL. Anyway... have a great week, and Pusheenosaurus is cute. always enjoy your GIf's.
