THE SUNDAY POST #36

THE SUNDAY POST is a weekly wrap-up feature hosted by Kimba at the Caffinated Book Reviewer

It is a chance to recap the previous week, share news, showcase books and/or bookish things we have received, and tell about what is coming up on our blog in the next week. You can view the guidelines, HERE.

I didn't do a Sunday Post last week because I had the plague. I am almost 100% better now. It effected one of my eyes and the other one was weeping in sympathy, so I didn't get much reading done. I had to listen to the last quarter of the ARC I was reading with text-to-speech. I was surprised how much better the male voice is on my new Kindle Fire than my older Fire.
I tell you about why I didn't like Warren the 13th and the All Seeing Eye: HERE.
I participated in a book release blitz for one of my favorite authors. I felt really bad because the promotion company was terrible. The post had punctuation and grammar mistakes, and bad formatting that had to be corrected.  Most of the blogs posted it with all of the mistakes *cringes*, and the Rafflecopter was for another author's cover reveal! I emailed them about the Rafflecopter problem the night before and they didn't fix it until a few hours before the blitz ended. The tweets for the Rafflecopter didn't even say there was a giveaway!
Anyway, I am half way finished with a review copy the author sent me, and I am loving it. It is the sequel to BLINDED BY THE LIGHT (free on Kindle Unlimited); a Dystopian set in the UK. The setting where The Union group resides is really unique. I like these books because they show the characters celebrating holidays and having entertainments. She introduced a new setting and added a new POV character, so it has been exciting to read.

This is an Adult Literary standalone by a YA author, and it is about a bookstore. I adored this story, and I think you will, too.
JKR visited the set of FANTASTIC BEASTS and you can read about it: HERE.
Cait is celebrating the first anniversary of her blog's name change with festive frivolity: HERE.

It will most likely be another light blogging week because of holiday preparations, and because I am starting to work on my Book of the Year post. I will also be working on The Perpetual Page Turner's 6TH ANNUAL END OF THE YEAR SURVEY. I wanted to do it last year, but I participated in a five day end of the year Top Ten Blog Hop, and I was burned out. I have decided to skip the blog hop this year because for all the extra work it was, there was not that much extra traffic and I gained zero followers. The only guaranteed post next week will be a TELL ME TUESDAY.
Have a terrific week.

  1. I'm really glad to hear you're feeling better LaLa! *hugs*
I failed at posting reviews this week myself... I was quite tired and I needed to do stop putting pressure on myself, I already have a day job and blogging is something to enjoy, not to lose sleep over for me!

    1. I know! Sometimes I go right from doing my work on the computer to my blog stuff because of working from home 80% of the time. I get bogged down even without commute time and not working on Fridays, so I can imagine how tiring it could be for you! (((hugs)))

  2. Sounds like your current book is a good one... glad you are feeling better, that's no fun. There's so much going on at the end of the year, you kinda have to pick and choose what to do, I hear you there.

    Have a nice week!

    1. Yeah, I learned my lesson last year. I was so tired out after the blog hop, that I never finished my 2014 Top Book post. :)

  3. It's good to hear you are feeling better. A lot of stuff going around this year. I was putting together my Sunday post and realized I didn't post a single review this week. Wrote many but they go up later and the ones I mentioned were from the week before. That's the first time this year I didn't post a review! Of course, I kind of planned it that way as I was out of town most of the week.

    1. Oh my! I commend you for posting reviews every week! I post mini reviews on Goodrwads and Amazon, but very rarely get a full fledged review done on the blog. I suppose getting to my backlog would be a good New Years resolution. :)

  4. I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better! My allergies have been affecting my eyes the last few years and I hate it so I'm in full sympathy for you. Glad you were able to do the text to read thing. That's great! What a disaster with the publicity company! I feel awful for the author. Have a great week!

    1. I remember you not being able to read with your allergies. My sympathies to you also! I was also missing my Words with Friends for a couple of days, too. Ha ha. :)

  5. Oh the YA book about the bookstore sounds good. That is awful about your authors blitz. I hope she got her money back. Glad you are feeling better. Being sick is bad enough but not being able to read..dreadful!

  6. Glad you are feeling better, I hate not being able to do stuff especially read! I have been trying out my text to speech with the well spoken English lady, she is very relaxing to listen too!

I think December will be a light month for me, Christmas is already taking over!

    Have a good week!

    1. The female voice for American English is almost annoying, ha ha. The male voice has always been better. After hearing how much more realistic the guy was on !y new Kindle, I checked out the woman, but she sounded the same as the old version. I wonder why they didn't update her, too. I wonder if I van access the English UK text-to-speevh? Hmm... ☺

  7. Awww, thanks for shouting out about my post! :D YOU ARE SO NICE.
Also, ugh to that cover reveal company. What even??! That'd be really disappointing for the author too, I bet. Gah. I mean, I know it's the end of the year and things get busy and stressful buuuut still...

    1. I know! I would have done a better job for free. And to think they didn't choose me for the blitz and the author had to tell them to put me on it. Ha!

  8. Sorry to hear you've been sick and hope you're on the mend now.

I've never really dealt with a book promotion company - most of the PR peeps are from publishers themselves. Sounds frustrating!

    1. Yeah, she's an indie and she usually deals with the tours and cover reveals herself, but she thought she would try out a promo group. I think she might go back to planning things herself!
