TELL ME TUESDAY is a floating feature, depending on your reading style, where you tell us what you read last, what you are reading now, what you will be reading next from your tbr pile, and why. I am curious why people read what they read, so tell me!

THIS IS ONE MONTH'S WORTH OF READING

MIDDLE GRADE
STANDALONE
HISTORICAL FICTION 1944
BLACK CULTURE
RACE RELATIONS
Published March 2019 - Own ebook
This was my first Black History Month book for this year. I loved it, but... there were some scenes which were incredibly disturbing and described in too much detail for Middle Grade, which is what the publisher has it listed as on the Edelweiss publisher's page. These books are difficult for me to rate because I rate books based on their intended readership. I highly recommend it for teens and adults, but certainly not for elementary school students.

I have read seven anti-racism books since Blackout 2020, and this one is my favorite by far. I highly recommend it. It's a little slow to start, but stick with it because you won't be able to put it down.

Honestly, this would have worked better as YA. There were some scenes of recounted violence that didn't set well with me as MG. One of the MCs did things and thought things as a much younger person than herself would. It was just weird. It was as if the author doesn't know any young people. Ha ha. Plus there was sexual tension and I also hate that in Middle Grade books.

HISTORICAL FICTION 1960s
BLACK CULTURE - FAMILY
RACE RELATIONS - BLACK HISTORY

This trilogy is amazing! I couldn't stop reading until I had finished the entire series. I even paid full ebook price for the second book because I didn't have it already. I usually put books I want on my Kindle wishlist and wait until they go on sale, but not this time! The stories were extra interesting to me because the oldest sister was the same age as I was in the late '60s.
