TELL ME TUESDAY is a floating feature, depending on your reading style, where you tell us what you read last, what you are reading now, what you will be reading next from your tbr pile, and why. I am curious why people read what they read, so tell me!

I'm glad I read two of his other books first because if this had been my first experience, I probably wouldn't have read anything else of his. Ha ha.
This was my #ReadForGrace book. Are you reading a book for Grace this month?

Readers on Goodreads have this shelved as both YA and Adult Fiction. I was scratching my head about the Adult Fiction, but after around 40% it becomes obvious it's not YA. It's also been shelved as Horror and it's only mild paranormal Historical Fiction. It's quirky, and I love quirky, but there was something missing.

The story was really weak. Mundane things were sometimes overly described, but when it came to the horror elements and magical events I felt too many of them were not detailed enough. I was thoroughly disappointed.

I re-read Sheets, it was a NetGalley ARC from a couple of years ago, before I read the sequel Delicates. I liked Sheets quite a bit, but I loved Delicates! I'm going to buy physical copies and re-read them every October. The idea of ghosts haunting sheets is priceless. Both of these stories are melancholy, yet uplifting. They are perfect books for spooky season. They would also make great family read-aloud stories with tweens.

I am struggling with reading Doctor Sleep and this little gem of a story was exactly what I needed to stave off the Stephen King book making me slumpish. Read it with a box of tissues. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

This is a little dated in the way the author sometimes uses wordy, almost poetic, descriptors, but it's an enjoyable read in small sittings. It would make a wonderful spooky season family read-aloud chapter a night story.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE/MENTAL HEALTH
Published 2013 - Overdrive Library Borrow
The substance abuse struggle and mental health elements are thoughtful and well portrayed, but the "horror" elements are just gross, eye rolly, and stupid. I've been speed reading the horror bits. I'm only about two hours into the story, but it seems like I've been reading it forever. I think there is more than a little famous author self-gratification going on here with the length of this book. And I must add his descriptions of women are horrendous.

UPDATE: Somewhere around 17% the story (and writing) became much better. I'm not dreading picking it up now.
