TELL ME TUESDAY #391 - Last. Now. Next. #AmReading #BookGiveaways

LAST. NOW. NEXT.
NUMBER THREE HUNDRED AND NINETY-ONE

TELL ME TUESDAY is a floating feature, depending on your reading style, where you tell us what you read last, what you are reading now, what you will be reading next from your tbr pile, and why. I am curious why people read what they read, so tell me!

November is SCI-FI MONTH and this was my first book. It's by the same author as Ring Shout. After about fifty percent the story was fabulous! This author's descriptive skills are well-honed. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel.

My second Sci-Fi Month title. Another book that took a good long while to get going, but is now very interesting. It did have one HUGE coincidence and a couple of plot conveniences, sadly. It also used the I'll "fix" the untruths of white washed history texts by weaving my own history untruths into the story. Were Native American battle victims' heads put on pikes, yes, did the Pilgrims do this? No. Accurate history is what people need, not more untruths.

I have loved every minute of the real world story, but the folktale storyline was very draggy in the beginning, and is juvenile; it reads like Midde Grade most of the time with some mild swear words like "bullshit" added in, and adult concepts about the human condition, or should I say animal people condition. I'm glad I stuck with it, though, because I am thoroughly enjoying it now. It's by the same author as one of my top five books for this year, Elatsoe. I'm reading it for the Big Library Read.
