TELL ME TUESDAY #46

TELL ME TUESDAY is a feature that oozed from the fried brains of myself and one of my best blogging buddies. It is a weekly, or bi-weekly feature (depending on your reading style), where you tell us what you are reading now, and why, and what you will be reading in the future from your tbr pile, and why. I am oh so curious why people read what they read. So tell us!

This week is going to be quick because my son woke me up at 1:30 am when he came home from Wing Night, and then my landlord downstairs decided to watch a movie with a lot of explosions and his surround sound cranked up at 3:45. By the time the movie was over, I had to be up in an hour so... I am CRANKY from lack of sleep.

I have to let you know about the book I finished a couple of days ago, HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE. It was recommended to me by A.G. Howard, the author of the SPLINTERED series. I adored it and found out there are sequels: CASTLE IN THE AIR and HOUSE OF MANY WAYS. It is also one of my favorite anime movies!

Right now I am reading THE THICKETY: A Path Begins.

I am loving this dark tale of magic and witches as an adult, but I feel the gruesome beginning of the story was a bit much for a Middle Grade book.

I almost wet myself with excitment when I saw I was approved for ILLUMINAE on Netgalley today.

It has been getting rave reviews all over the place. However, it was not downloadable to my Kindle, and this old and tired body can't handle reading on a laptop (especially after sitting at a computer all day). I was going to read that next, but now I am unsure what it will be.

What are you reading? Tell me!

  1. YAY for being approved for Illuminae!! Maybe you can send them a message? When I first got approved for Beastly Bones it was not "send to Kindle" but I looked before leaving for BEA and then it was!

    1. Yes, that happened with another book on Netgalley last year. I don't remember which book, but I went to leave them a feedback message about it not being Kindle friendly a month later, and there was a Kindle button.

  3. Gah, I haven't checked Netgalley in forever! i've been trying to avoid review books as much as possible lately, save for a few and I miss them. I'm read The Fold by Peter Clines right now, one of those few review titles, and really enjoying it. It's a sci-fi thriller about teleportation!

    1. I should check that book out because I love reading about folded space. I guess it all started with reading A Wrinkle In Time! :D

  4. I'm so glad you read Howl's Moving Castle!! I've seen the movie like A GAZILLION TIMES (it was playing perpetually on my dorm floor my sophomore year, so I've seen it multiple times. In English. And Japanese. And without sound. And only with sound.) I love the movie, but it's such a separate thing from the book for me. I like the book much more as far as the story goes - it makes much more sense to me and Diana Wynne Jones has such a particular sense of humor that doesn't translate well to the screen since so much of it isn't dialogue. But the movie has that Miyazaki atmosphere and it's stunning to watch and well...you can't watch any movie that many times and hate it really, can you? (If I ever have children I am sure I will retract that statement lol)

    1. Yes! I didn't know it was a book until A.G. told me about it when we were talking about the movie. I rhink Castle in the Air was based on this trilogy, too. When I finish the trilogy I am going to watch both movies again. :D
