THE SUNDAY POST #SIX

THE SUNDAY POST is a weekly feature hosted by Kimba at The Caffinated Book Reviewer. It is a chance to recap the previous week, share news, showcase books and/or bookish things we have received, and tell about what is coming up on our blog in the next week. You can view the rules, HERE.

This post is going to be short and sweet because I have finally succumbed to the stomach plague everyone had before. *Note to self: always use hand sanitizer before and after grocery cart usage.

OVERVIEW
On Monday, I finished THE RAVEN BOYS and gave it FIVE STARS. If you like Paranormal YA, this is the cream of the crop.
I was going to dive right into THE INVASION OF THE TEARLING, but THE INFINITE (the sequel to Gates of Thread and Stone, my top YA of last year), became available as a Read Now on Netgalley for 24 hours, so there was a reading change of plan.

I posted a TELL ME TUESDAY and I have a new feature follower REX ROBOT REVIEWS. We are at three now, with a fourth contemplating jumping on board next week. When I get ten feature followers I will add a linky.

On Wednesday Maggie Stiefvater announced that the title of the next Raven Cycle book would be THE RAVEN KING.

The cover of PERSUASION, the sequel to Compulsion by Martina Boone, was revealed on Thursday. It's purple, my favorite color.

Friday, I found out I was approved for THE BEEKEEPER'S DAUGHTER on Edelweiss. It was the only book I requested because I learned my lesson last week.

While drafting this post on Saturday, I noticed I had gone over 20,000 page views. On my one year blogoversary I was commenting that one of my goals was to have 10,000 veiws in one year, but fell short at a little less than 7,000. I am happy I made up for that with about 13,000 look sees in the last five months.

WHAT I GOT
THE INFINITE - Netgalley
NIGHTBIRD - Netgalley
THE WINTER BOY - Ebook Kindle Daily Deal
UNHOLY GHOSTS - Ebook $2.99

If you are on NETGALLEY, and want to read my YA Top Book of 2014, GATES OF THREAD AND STONE,  is a READ NOW!

Is anyone doing a Valentines Day post? I am.

  2. No Valentine's Day post here...mostly because I tend to forget it's a holiday and I've never been fond of it even almost 9 years into a relationship. I hope you all start feeling better soon! I've managed to avoid the nasty stuff this season so far. I've had a dry cough but I always get a cough in winter so I'm not sure if it's just me powering through the illnesses or just something my body does. I hope you have a good week this week and enjoy your new reads!

  4. I'm sorry you are sick, this is a nasty bug so take good care of yourself. No Valentine post, no, I've never been too keen on celebrating it and it was my ex's birthday, so... ;) Have a better week !

    1. Oooo... ex's birthday, ouch! I might not celebrate it either if that were my case. I like celebrating with family and friends. Any holiday that involves chocolate is fine with me. :)

  5. I'm tossing up whether i'll do a Valentine's Day post. Hehe. I'm like the most unromantic person in the universe, but last year I did a guessing game, so I might repeat for this year?! XD OMG SO MANY PRETTTY BOOKS. And I'm so so pleased with the title of the last Raven Boys book. IT IS PERFECT. OMG I AM SO EXCITED FOR IT I COULD SCREAM
    *screams quietly*
I hope you get better soon. :((

    1. Thanks! I cannot contain myself over thinking about The Raven King cover! The series is one of my physical book, bookshelves series. I like Valentines day because it gives me another reason to do little nice things for friends and family. And CHOCOLATE, any excuse to have more chocolate is fine with me! :)

    1. Thank-you! I am pretty picky about my Paranormal reads. My son was seriously ill a few years ago, and my introduction to Paranormal YA was an assortment of books my sister picked out for me from the library (oh how I wish I had, had an ereader back then) that were quick mindless reads. They were perfect back then because I didn't mind getting interupted reading at the hospital and doctors' offices. They were easily put down and easy to get back into. Needless to say in those pre-blogging days I thought all YA Para was like that! Since book blogging I have found out differently. :)

  7. Lots of wonderful books this week!
The grocery store is the worst place for germs. People pick things up and set them back down and then you pick them up.... I know that's how I get ill. Hope you feel better soon.

    1. Thanks! I know! I use coupons and extensive coordinated lists to save money (son in college), so I only shop twice a month. It is really easy to pinpoint that is where most of my illnesses come from because of how infrequenly I go there. Lol.

  8. Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well, but it looks like you have some good books to read. Thanks for sharing even though you are under the weather. :-)

    1. I do have some great books, and I love the word "some", I don't feel so bogged down this week with "hafta reads" for reviews. :)

  9. Ahhh!!! You've got the Beekeeper's Daughter! I requested it on NetGalley a few days ago because I loved Montefiore's last book and now I'm impatiently waiting for it. I hope you love it! I got the flu once when I was volunteering in the clinic at my kids' school. I remember lying in bed sure I was dying and I could just see myself taking the phone from a little girl without wiping it down first. Oh well. Hope you feel better!

    1. I am hoping I love it, too! Another point for great cover art because I went to look at the synopsis after seeing the cover. I hadn't looked into whether the author had more books out, or not, that is good to know. Hand sanitizer is my BFF from now on. :)

  11. That sucks. I hope you feel better soon. I never use hand sanitizer after using those carts. Which is now something I will do. I guess I've just been really lucky so far. Feel better soon.

  12. I'm glad you liked Raven Boys, such an interesting and unique read! I snagged Gates of Thread and Stone, I hope I like it. Persuasion's cover is really pretty. Happy weekend!

    1. I love Persuasion's purple cover. I think I have zero purple books and it is my favorite color (now that it has been established that the Unhinged cover should be considerdd blue, not purple, lol). I hope you love Gates as much as I did. The ending punches you in the head. :)

  14. Thanks. Again, I love your blog and I visit it all the time. Yes, GoTaS was a very yes or no book for a lot of readers. It read more like an Adult Fantasy, and I also think that many people didn't expect the Dystopian slant to it either. :)

    1. Yes! It is such a difficult choice because Invasion and The Infinite are both sequels to my two top 2014 books that were a tie for 1st place in my mind. Plus, I can only sneak bits and pieces because I am reading a book I need to review. :O
