TELL ME TUESDAY #ONE!

NUMBER ONE
NOW & NEXT

This is a brand spankin' NEW FEATURE sprung from the mind of my fellow blogging buddy BRITTERSWEET at PLEASE FEED THE BOOKWORM, and I will be co-hosting it with her!! *twirls*

We want you to TELL US what you are reading NOW and what you are thinking about reading NEXT. We are curious about what choices you make from your TBR pile and WHY.

So join us here and on PLEASE FEED the BOOKWORM!

I usually have 3 - 4 books going at a time: one ARC, one slow read (something I can only handle a chapter or two at a time time), a pleasure read (mostly YA Fantasy or Scifi); and since my New Years "resolution" to have at least one Adult book going, one adult book. The number varies because sometimes my reads fill more than one niche. For example my ARC might be a YA Scifi pleasure read, or my Adult novel might be my slow read. Currently I am reading four stories.

THE ARC...
I was so happy to receive this book from First Reads. I have been trying to read more diverse stories.

FIND IT HERE ON GOODREADS

THE PLEASURE READ...

I have wanted to read Dorothy Must Die for ages. I don't like paying a lot for books when I am not familiar with the Author's writing, so if I am interested, I first try to get an ARC or win it in a giveaway. If that fails I keep checking for a Kindle deal (usually $2.99 or less) and at the library. I was lucky and won a signed copy (personalized to La La!!), but the author was touring, and it was taking forever for it to arrive, so I picked up this prequel novella for $1.99 to tide me over. My Dorothy Must Die came the same day. Lol.

MY SLOW READ...
Anne Serling is a casual friend of mine, and I am reading this book slowly because her father Rod Serling (The Twilight Zone) grew up in Binghamton N.Y., where I grew up, and currently live, and I am slowly savoring it. Usually my slow reads are very dense adult novels that fry my brain if I try to read more than a chapter at a time, or review books I have been sent that are not quite my cup of tea. However, reading this memoir set in places I am familiar with, about father-daughter bonds from my era, and through memories of the man who envisioned and wrote one of my all time favorite television shows, makes this book a treasure for me to read. Read more about this book HERE.

AN ADULT READ...
I originally saw THE GOLDFINCH in the ballots for the Goodreads Favorite Books of 2013 voting. The blurb intrigued me so I put it on my GR TR shelf as a maybe for my adult reading New Years "resolution", and then promptly forgot about it. It popped up on one of the many discount ebook emailings I subscribe to  as "free for a limited time", so I nabbed it. I love this book.

NEXT
Of course I will be reading my beautiful copy of Dorothy Must Die as soon as I finish the prequel novella No Place Like Oz.

I also just joined EDELWEISS and my first eARC request was A Thousand Pieces of You, so we will see how that goes. It is a YA Scifi I have seen quite a few bloggers tweeting about.

Thank-you  for joinlng us on the maiden voyage of TELL ME TUESDAY! Until Brittersweet gets the Linky thing up and running for next week, please leave your "tell mes" in the comments, and don't forget to visit Britter on her blog PLEASE FEED the BOOKWORM.

    1. YAY!!!! I am so happy you thought of this. I like it because it gives me a reason to present books I might not be reviewing on my blog and instead of fretting over whether I should do a "book haul" post, I can talk about them here as what I am thinking of next.

  2. That's a lot of books going at once. :) I'm usually a one book kind of gal, though now that I've found the joys of audiobook, I'm a 2 book kind of gal. My day time reading, on my Kindle, is Stalkers by Paul Finch. At night I listen to audiobooks, and am currently listening to My Lucky Life... by Dick Van Dyke. I'm not sure what I'll read next, I'll decide when each of these are done to see what sounds best to me.

  3. Thanks for the mention of the Dick Van Dyke book. I love reading about the lives of actors who were popular during my childhood years. I am off to add it to my Goodreads TR shelf. My sister loves audio books and has been trying to get me to try them. It is probably a good idea because of being able to accomplish other things while absorbing the story. Anything to help lessen my huge TBR pile. Thank-you for joining us today, Karsyn. :)

    1. Glad to join ya. I enjoy yours and Brittesweet's blogs. :) I'm not typically into bios or celeb type stuff, but I've liked Dick Van Dyke since his Diagnosis Murder days. The audiobook has been great, hearing it in his own words. Loving it!

  5. But I did get approved for The Queen of the Tearling, though!! *twirls* There is a lot of controversy surrounding that book. It is going to be the first topic for my Second TuEsDaY Debate Club feature.

  6. Now I am reading City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Claire.
I think California Demon by Julie Kenner is next in line. It's been waiting patiently.

    1. Yeah, the big YA blogger buzz is City of Heavenly Fire. Lotsa lotsa people reading that book. Is that the one readers are saying is really thick? I like thick books it is like getting two for the price of one. Thanks for joining us Xyra. Hoping to see you next week.

    2. 725 pages. Doesn't seem that thick after you have read the later Harry Potters, Breaking Dawn, or any of the Outlanders. :-)

  7. I usually have 3 or 4 books going at the same time too. It's usually a slow read one, an audiobook, and a pleasure read, and I usually have a paper book added in there somewhere. ;) I'm a little jealous of your Dorothy Must Die. I've been trying to win a copy of that one too. Happy reading. Love the new feature.

    1. I am a little worried about the Dorothy Must Die because the prequel I am reading is so much like Children's chapter book. I am hoping this isn't her usual style.

    2. And thank-you for stopping by. I will return the visit. :)

  8. Right now I have one audiobooks and one eBook going. The SYNC downloads are pretty awesome this year so I'm definitely taking advantage.

I passed on the Rod Serling title along to my husband and mother-in-law. They are both big Twilight Zone fans. I love it as well. To Serve Man and Time Enough At Last are at the top of my must-watch list! :)
