JANUARY READING UPDATE
TELL ME TUESDAY is a floating feature, depending on your reading style, where you tell us what you read last, what you are reading now, what you will be reading next from your tbr pile, and why. I am curious why people read what they read, so tell me!

This is one of those books that straddles the line between MG and YA. It would be a good family read-aloud book for Middle Grade aged readers, and younger teens.

The premise is great, but the writing just didn't support it and there were too many errors.

If they were publicizing this as the Romance Novel that it is, and not Women's Fiction, I wouldn't have requested a review copy, but then again... if I hadn't read it I wouldn't have been able to point out all the mental health misinformation in the story. I read a similar book right afterward that was so strong and on point I wanted to change this rating to one star in comparison. When will publishers realize trying to pass off typical Romance as Women's Fiction and Historical Fiction will backfire in the long run.

This story was so good and so strong, and the writing was wonderful. It was one of those books that when I next sat down to read I was sad I wasn't reading it any longer.

I was not sure how I was going to like this book after I read it's so-called Sci-Fi counterpart, A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers, because I loathed the Chambers book, but this one is delightful. It has a simple, yet interesting, storyline so it's not one of those new trendy "no plot, all vibes" books, and although there is basically zero world-building the characters are so charming it really doesn't matter. I couldn't read a steady diet of this type of book, but it's been a great palate cleanser after the emotional rollercoaster ride of the last book I finished. Plus, there's no what I call "Millennial stroking" in it; there was a ton of Millennial stroking in the Chambers book. It's also not drowning in obscenities like a lot of new Fantasy. I wish they would make a video game based on this story.
