This is my last novel of Charlotte's to read. I am thoroughly enjoying it. It's taking me a while because I keep stopping to annotate my ebook. I will definitely be re-reading this next year and buying a physical book to tab and annotate; plus a fancy special edition for my living room bookshelves! I kerp my annotated copies in my bedroom. I like it much better than I did Villette. It is very Feminist and there is no traditional romance in it. I am allergic to romance.

I stumbled upon information about a two chapter fragment of a story Charlotte supposedly started penning in the last month before her death, titled Emma. Liis, from Cover to Cover, and I are going to buddy read it. I have misgivings about it being written during her last month because according to Elizabeth Gaskell who was with her during her illness, Charlotte was barely able to lift her head from her pillow the last two months she was alive.

I still have both of Anne's novels to read. Liis and I are going to buddy read Agnes Grey. I also have the Glasstown book to read and two more biographies about Charlotte. If I have time I am going to re-read Villette. Liis and I buddy read it last year. I think after I finish Shirley I'm going to take a Brontë reading break, for a month, to catch up with my Little House series posts. I will still be watching the second half of the PBS docudrama and my favorite Jane Eyre movie: the 1996 film with Charlotte Gainsbourg and William Hurt.

I had purchased a Full Color Collectors Edition paperback (see below), from Book Outlet, for Bookstagram photos. I've been waiting for a copy of the 2017 Harper Collins Special Illustrated Cover Edition, matching the first two books I have, to show up used "very good" from Better World Books. However, when I was searching online to see if maybe Thrift Books or Abe's books might have it for not too much of an exorbitant price (BWB used books are always better priced), I saw that BWB had the 1999 hardcover Collectors Edition (seen above), for $6.31 with free shipping, in "very good" condition, so I scooped it up. Same conditon copies on Abe's Books (Thrift Books didn't have any) were $37 to $45 plus $15 to $20 shipping. Yikes! It also has wonderful color illustrations.
We are also continuing to read the timeline adjacent content in the Pioneer Girl autobiography which is augmented with historical context.
This is Jolene holding her book in front of the location where the Ingall's one room log cabin used to stand on the Kansas prairie. As I mention before, she has visited all the prominent sites in the series. When I finally start posting the individual book overviews, I will be posting her photos of the reconstructed dwellings and those like Almanzo's boyhood home, from Farmer Boy, which are still standing.

I have been participating in Carib-A-Thon since the beginning, seven years ago. I also read Caribbean authors throughout the entire month for Caribbean-American Heritage Month. I am extra excited this year because it is the first year I have been able to borrow a book for the group read. Hoopla has an audiobook of Ibis by Justin Haynes.

GOODREADS

Andrea Levy is my favorite author with Caribbean heritage. Her parents were Jamaican immigrants to England. Sadly she passed away at the age of sixty-one in 2019. I have read Fruit of the Lemon and Small Island. I was hoping to read The Long Song this year, but I wasn't expecting to be able to participate in the Carib-A-Thon group read. I have my fingers crossed that I will be able to squeeze it in.
JUNE IS PRIDE MONTH
I used to read all LGBTQ books in June before Carib-A-Thon came to be. I still read one LGBTQ title during the month. I haven't picked one yet. Any suggestions? No cheesy romance!
Meet my new wyvern reading buddy Pym!
What are you reading in June?
