BEWITCHED CHRISTMAS SPECIAL
Hello, my magical mavens! It's Wednesday Witch time. This is a junction between my Toadstone & Bumbershoot posts and my La La in the Library posts; with a good helping of Fantasy book topics and quiet little everyday witch things.
I'm hoping to get back to making this a monthly feature in 2026
THESE ARE THE REST OF THE WITCH BOOKS I READ FOR WITCHTEMBER
EIGHT FOR THE MONTH IN TOTAL
This was the best one yet. I wish I could give it six stars! It even made me tear up. In September I thought my library had also gotten volumes twelve and thirteen besides this one, but alas... they hadn't, so I bought volume twelve as an ebook at full price and thirteen minus a $3.00 reward I was given. Then I never read them. If my library's Libby gets them before I read them, I will kick myself!

Again, Witch Trial victims being portrayed as "real" witches, and romanticizing the witch hunts, is disrespectful to the actual victims of the Witch Trials. Fantasy witches can be anything; why make them Witch Trial victims? Also, readers shelving this as Historical Fiction on Goodreads makes me ill. This book was published in 2020, so there is no excuse for not being aware of the current thinking on the subject. On the other side of that the magical system was vague and the plot wandered all over the place until the last fifteen percent or so. It was a 99¢ ebook so I had no trouble deleting it from my Kindle.

I intend to read the entire series. During the summer all of the ebooks, except for the last one, were 99¢ and I scooped them up. Sometime later the last book was $1.99, so I have that one now, too. The author also wrote the Howl's Moving Castle books.
This graphic novel couldn't decide if it wanted to be Middle Grade, Young Adult, or Adult.

You know... I am looking at the witch hat gingerbread and I am thinking how absolutely satisfying it would be to eat them. bite off each corner first, then munch the last bit. I LOVE gingerbread so much. Think I had about a half a box of them this morning with my coffee. Some breakfast! XD
ReplyDeleteThat would be satisfying. I'm going to challenge myself to make a different cookie every two weeks this year and I need to get a witch hat cookie cutter. I can't believe I don't have one. ☺
