THE SUNDAY POST #NINE

THE SUNDAY POST is a weekly feature hosted by Kimba at The Caffinated Book Reviewer. It is a chance to recap the previous week, share news, showcase books and/or bookish things we have received, and tell about what is coming up on our blog in the next week. You can view the rules, HERE.

Tomorrow is Dr. Seuss's birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY THEODOR SEUSS GEISEL!!!!

Yesterday I found Dr. Seuss "teach me to read" apps on special for the celebration. I puchased ten of the cheaper ones (99¢ and $1.99) for less than $10.00 because through the Kindle App Store I received enough purchase point coins, with my first Seuss apps, that I was able to get two for free.

They are the FULL books! And because they each have three modes: teach me to read, read it myself, and auto read; it is like getting the book, the audio book, and the teaching app for one price. I bought them to have on hand for babysitting and my someday grandchildren.

If you go to the Kindle App Store there is a Daily Deals banner for them.

My grandmother taught me to read with One Fish Two Fish, and I taught my son to read with Go Dog Go. My father got me the Dr. Seuss Book of the Month Club, and I remember how excited I was when I saw the familiar white cardboard box come in the mail. I can still remember the smell of the pages when I first opened the new arrivals. I made sure my son had the book of the month club, too.

I talked about a serious subject in my TELL ME TUESDAY this last week. You can read that post, HERE.

NEXT WEEK
I'm not going to tell you what I got this week because I am doing a Stacking The Shelves, for the month of February, tomorrow. I think I am going to make this a regular feature on the first Monday of every month.  I will, as usual, be doing a Tell Me Tuesday and we are supposed to have a new feature follower, so that will be nice. I am going to try and get a review done, also. Choosing which book is going to be difficult.

What are some of your Seuss memories?

  1. Maybe it's a thing of being Spanish, but I don't think I've ever read a Dr Seuss book!

  2. What are the books Spain that are popular for first reading by yourself books?

    1. They are rhyming books, so translated into Spanish they would have lost that childish appeal.

  3. I never read Dr Seuss, though they have translated editions here in Brazil (I don't think that's something that was around when I was a kid though) but that app looks like a great thing for kids.

    1. That is a marvelous idea! I started reading to my son the day I brought him home from the hospital. Buying the physical books is a must, too, because nothing can replace cuddling in a chair and turning the pages. :)

  5. I learnt to read using One Fish Two Fish as well! I didn't even realise it was Dr. Seuss' birthday. What a terrible fan I am:)

  6. I wouldn't have remembered either if I hadn't seen the app sale. :)

  7. My mom was obsessed with buying me Dr. Seuss books as a kid. Even now she'll find some and ask if I have it or not. We use to have the hardest time finding Fox in Socks and Go Dogs Go.

    1. I am going to start buying some more physical copies to round out our Seuss collection. Just looking at them makes me feel young again. :)

  8. I grew up with the Seuss books and still have many of them. I loved One Fish and Are You My Mother the best. I have a feeling it was because it had critters in them. LOL

    1. I remember coveting my friend's copy of Are You My Mother. For some reason I never got that one in my BotMC. Lol. It was one of the first ones I bought my son! Ha!
