2014 TOP TEN BLOG HOP: Day Two BOOK COVERS!

MAY I PRESENT TO YOU MY 2014 TOP TEN COVERS!!

(this time I remembered to post them #10 to #1 for a dramatic build up)

There were plenty of covers I adored this year, but this had to be covers of books published in 2014 and preferably ones we have read. For me that would only have been five, so I fudged it a little to include books I own, published in 2014 that I have not read yet, and in one case two alternate covers I also loved.

10. Dorothy Must Die

First the cover lets you know it's about Oz with the iconic blue gingham dress image, then I like how the invisible Dorothy reflects that we really don't know who she truly is. I have this in hardcover. The jacket is superb with raised shiny blood-red lettering.. I haven't made time to read it yet because the prequel novella left me disinterested.

9. TIN STAR

I love the unique lettering; quirky, just like the story inside. Aliens done well. Need I say more?

8. Talon

I adore this dragon themed cover with its bright gold lettering. I was disappointed it really wasn't much about dragons, and the writing wasn't as bright as the lettering.

7. Princess of Thornes

I was drawn into requesting this book from Netgalley because of the cover. It is too bad the book is only marginally good and the author is greedy and pugnacious.

6. 5. 4. The Queen of the Tearling

The publisher mysteriously sent me a magnificent hardcover of this book (last one pictured). The jacket has glossy raised gold lettering. Underneath the book looks like a volume of a classic novel. This is great because the books I showcase on my livingroom shelves, I do so without their dust covers. I saw the paperback cover on Goodreads (top) and I think it is equally lovely. The one in the middle is supposed to be the dust cover art for the mass market hardcover.

3. The Ghosts of Heaven

I have the five chapter sampler of this. I like this version of the cover much more than the original.

2. Blue Lily, Lily Blue

I won this in beautiful hardcover, but I haven't read it yet because I need the first two books. The dust cover has raised shiny lettering and the image has a matte iridescence to it if that makes any sense!

By A.G. Howard

I know, I know, it is Morpheus, and he and I just can't seem to get along, but this cover is to die for. You can see more of the artist's frabjous work, HERE.

All three covers together is a breathtaking sight.
