THE SUNDAY POST #FIVE

THE SUNDAY POST is a weekly feature hosted by Kimba at The Caffinated Book Reviewer. It is a chance to recap the previous week, share news, showcase books and/or bookish things we have received, and tell about what is coming up on our blog in the next week. You can view the rules, HERE.

We didn't get the Blizzard of the Century they were predicting, but the sub-zero temps with bone-numbing windchills have not let up.

A LOOK BACK

This week was almost a total washout, so I am not going to do my usual day by day recap. The new schedule around my job is still leaving me in a quandry about where to find time for bloggy things, and still do housework and cook meals for myself and my son. As you can see there has been no blog activity here since my last The Sunday Post. I also did not finish The Raven Boys and was asked about the availability of my guest review, today.

A WHOLE LOT OF RANDOMNESS

I did not post a TELL ME TUESDAY, but I have a new feature follower, Elizabeth from So Long... & Thanks For All The Fish. You can read her TMT post, HERE. We started a wonderful little discussion about Children's chapter books because she is a nanny.

I was reminded that I wanted to do an international book giveaway, for my next blog contest, using this online company that gives to charity. This archieved post, The Not So Literary Heiresses tweeted about, is what poked my brain about it, HERE.

And remember that eARC I said I groveled and begged for on Edelweiss? I GOT IT! I was approved for Invasion of the Tearling! *twirling*

APOLOGIES
I only got to the first handful of links on last week's Sunday feature, but I did manage to return comment for everyone who commented here. I will be visiting more of you this week, and will comment on both Sundays' posts if I didn't get to you last week.

WHAT I GOT

PRE-ORDERS: My order of Breaker by Emma Raveling popped up on my Kindle carousel at midnight on Tuesday/Wednesday. I have the entire series of this Paranomal YA Romance because between free tour book specials, and 99¢ deals, I puchased all four titles, plus an enovella, for $1.98 total. I like having some light reading for waiting rooms, and bus riding environments where you get interupted a lot. It think the Ondine quartet as an ebundle is still only $5.99.

EBOOK DEALS: I bought The Fault in Our Stars for $2.99. I rarely read Contemporary YA, and when I do it is usually a review book, but so many people have told me to read this I thought it was about time (I have not seen the movie either). I pre-ordered The Sin Eater's Daughter for $2.99.

AUDIOBOOKS: I bought War and Peace (61 hours) with one of my special $1.00 Audible credits. I am also going to use my last special credit to purchase Ulysses (42 hours). I figured I would never have the reading stamina to get through these, but have always wanted to read them, so listening to them seems the next best thing. Talk about a lot of book bang for my buck!

EDELWEISS: As I mentioned, I was approved for the eARC of Invasion of the Tearling! I was so scared that I had been declined when the email notification showed up in my inbox, I made my son open it and read it. I even cried a little. Now if I can get approved for Of Delicate Pieces, the sequel to Of Breakable Things,  I will have all four of my 2015  top four most anticipateds coming as ARCs. Also, I must have hit some kind of mark because after requesting many, many books at a time on EW, due to only being approved for maybe one in ten, I was approved for SIX in one week, yikes! Good thing they were all recipe books with the exception of a book on stones my son is going to read and review.

NETGALLEY: I caved and downloaded another Read Now, Seeker. I probably won't have time to read it before it publishes, but there have been too many times I have not gotten a Read Now and was sorry later. I also loaded a book of Victorian Fairy Tales and an Amish cookbook that were Read Nows. The "Authentic" Amish Cookbook was almost awful. I was also request approved for The Glittering World

GIVEAWAYS: There are still three more days left on my Black Raven Tea Giveaway, and only four entrants, so your odds are good if you still enter, HERE. And until midnight Sunday (today) left for my valentine, swag, tea, handmade bookmark giveaway, HERE.

NEXT WEEK...?
TELL ME TUESDAY
PERSUASION, the sequel to Compulsion, cover reveal on Thursday.

What is your dream ARC for this year?

  1. I have re-requested the Invasion of the Tearling because I was declined the first time, and I didn't even get an e-mail saying so!
But I got approved for 2 very unexpected ARCs on NG by Disney & Penguin, so I'm over the moon about that!
I do hope you can figure out how to get some reading and blogging time with the new work schedule!

    1. Ha ha, Elizabeth is going to have a laugh because now Blogger is even deleting my comments! What I said was, I re-requested Burning Kingdoms and kissed butt in the "special comments" section and was finally approved. I hope the same thing happens for you. I think I will be acclimated to the new schedule in a couple of weeks. I am hoping he will let me do the online reasearch and documenting at home soon. He is just being a grump. :D

  2. Congrats on getting approved for Invasion of the Tearling ! And I so understand about the struggles of trying to balance work, life and blogging. Sometimes it just has to take a back seat! Hope this week is better!

  3. Thanks, I have to be able to get more reading done because of the review books. When I finish The Rsven Boys I have two more, but I don't think they ate due until March. I have to check. :D

  4. Juggling a new schedule can be really stressful until things settle (and sometimes it just kind of stays that way, but hopefully that's not the case!). I'm thinking I might need to take time off the blog for an extended time until I can find another job - my hours at the gym I work at have been cut basically in half and I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Other than hopefully pick up another job! Luckily my boyfriend can help out with things for this month and I've had some extra nannying...but I definitely need something better long term. So this is the push I needed to brush up everything and get working towards doing a more music geared job anyway, so I think it's probably a good thing this has happened. Hopefully your new job is lots of fun and you'll get some more time for blogging soon! And thanks again for the shout out!

  5. I don't know if "fun" is the word, but "interesting" fits quite well, lol. My boss is so lame because I worked for him at least four years before and got everything I could do from home done. Granted, it was part time before, but motivation is motivation! I hope you can find something music related soon. You should see if your local Performing Arts Center has any of those "bundled" jobs they like so well where you are a combinded receptionist, talent liasion, gopher, ticket seller, etc. It isn't playing music, but you get to interact with the people who do, and the atmosphere can't be beat. I used to do those types of day jobs and then do community group music for myself to keep fresh.

    1. I am now realizing that I am going to have to be more "scheduled" here on the blog in order to keep things active now. Which goes against every grain of my being. Lol. Enjoy that new grandbaby, Nona!

  8. Congrats on the Edelweiss approvals! I'll be reading The Invasion of the Tearling soon :D I hope you enjoy The Sin Eater's Daughter more than I did! And Seeker - but I liked Seeker a lot, so I hope you enjoy it as well ;) I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Thanks for visiting my blog! Have a fabulous week :)

    1. I love your blog because you tell your true feelings about a book, no hype! I can always trust if you say a book is good, it was good for you and that you, in reality, read it, and you are not just following the crowd.

  9. The cold temps have to go, we've been freezing here and here comes the snow again. I spoke too soon yesterday, now we're getting a blizzard! Hope you stay warm, and hnag in there- work schedules can make blogging tough.

    1. I remember us waiting a long while for spring to come last year, but it was just cold temps in general. This has been brutal! On my wallet for heating bills, too. Lol. :)

  10. Sounds like you've had a crazy week with work and all that. So authentic Amish food not so authentic? That's too bad. I hope you're able to find time to do some more reading soon. I hate when things get so chaotic that I don't have time for that. Have a great week and stay warm!

  14. That cookbook sounds awful. Congrats on the approval for Invasion! I'm not sure I have a dream ARC for the year, because I haven't really been keeping up with the new releases this year at all. If I got a copy of Winter by Marissa Meyer in the mail I wouldn't complain though, lol.

    1. I haven't read any of Marisa's books yet, but my sister really likes her. I think this is about the fifth time in a couple of days that I have said that for diffetent popuoar books. Maybe I should let her have her own blog post on Fridays. :)

  16. Go finish "The Raven Boys" is so good and you deserves to read such a great book! (have you finished it yet?)

I have not read the first of the Tearling series, I'm always reading mixed things and ugh, hard to decide if I want to read it - one day, one day I'll find out for myself what is all about the hype surrounding this book.

I got Seeker on Netgalley too but ugh, so many bad reviews have been popping that I just feel really not wanting to pick it up anytime soon.
