ARMCHAIR BEA Day FiVe: LAST DAY POST ~ Personal Choice...

Well, my PERSONAL CHOICE POST will be a RANT in honor of SKULLBLOGGERY!!

Although I did find and add the blogs of a few new friendly bloggers through this ARMCHAIR BEA experience, I was a little shocked at the amount of passive agressive, holier-than-thou, bloggers who passed through my comment sections. In reality some weren't really all that passive about it either, " Your blog looks horrible, if you want to see what a beautiful blog looks like come and view mine."
What? I had to delete over ten blog post comments similar to this.

Then there was the "theme lady", if I wanted my blog to be successful like hers, I needed a "theme"... um, I thought books and libraries was my theme. Hello, La La in the LiBrArY, does that ring a bell? And the helpful blogger who said I needed to narrow my focus, movie reviews weren't necessary. I have never reviewed a movie on this blog ever.

Next is my, and my fellow SKULLBLOGGER Brittersweet's, favorite...

... my blog suffers from "personality leakage"...

OH NO!!!! IS THERE A WEB MD PAGE FOR THAT????

I also shouldn't post LINKS, or use my signature varied LETTERS in my post titles.

~It is too CoNfUsiNg~

And what was up with all the non book bloggers voicing their negative opinions on our BOOK blogs???

This was Armchair BOOK Expo America.

What is SKULLBLOGGERY?

It is me and Brittersweet from PLEASE FEED the BOOKWORM supporting each other through dealing with sometimes rude and arrogant bloggers and authors, and trying to figure out how things "work" in the BLOGOSPHERE.

  1. Your personality leakage is what attracted me to your blog! Cause its awesome!! Don't let a few debbie downers rain on your parade cause just remember next year we will be at BEA and also in the words of the oh so amazing Dr Suess "Be who you are and say what you feel, cause those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ;-)

  4. OMG. I can't believe anyone would say that?!? What the hell? There are plenty of blogs out there I think are ugly because they are frilly, which isn't my thing, or old fashioned, which again, not my thing. I'd never say "eeew". To each their own, it's not for anyone to say what another person likes!! What matters is what is said anyways, not what it looks like. And if you did review movies, why does it matter? It's YoUr blog to do with it what YoU want to!! :) I'm so adding you to my bloglovin' feed to follow! I support ya, and your personal choices!!

    1. ThAnkS!! Ha ha... I kind of flung the doors wide open for those not so delicate critics when I asked for suggestions, but I did it with obviously the innocent impresstion that they would be given in a nurturing way. Thanks stopping by, commenting, and following. I will return the favor.

  5. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience! That's the pits. Just do what you do! Your blog is your own and no one else's opinion really matters. Keep your head up!

  7. Huh... I actually really like that your blog is different, in both looks and personality. Some blogs I've read... well maybe not read. I guess I fell asleep reading them. Some blogs look identical to some others I've looked at, but yours stands out, and in a good way. There are too many "formulaic" blogs out there anyways. Keep it interesting!

P.S. I didn't participate in the BEA thingy. Looked like too many pointless posts. I'd rather write plain old book critiques any day.

    1. I almost definately don't think I would participate again, unless the format changed, but at least I won't have to worry about it next year because I will be at the actual BEA convention. Thank-you for coming and checking out my blog. I will be doing so in return. :)

  8. I did finally find out exactly what "theme" means from a blogging point of view. It actually has two components: content and design. I still feel my content is fairly narrow: books YA/Adult, mostly Scifi/Fantasy, and interesting libraries/bookstores. I will throw a random bookish "thing" in every once in awhile, like a beautiful book tote or a literary news item. I do this because I appreciate those types of serendipitous posts on other blogs. The design is supposed to reflect the major content of your blog, I get the feel of public library when I look at my blog and that is exactly what I am going for. I am not a teen/young adult, nor do I read and review Romance or (very much) YA Contemporary, so I am not going to have flowers and butterflies with a pink and mint green color scheme. My Middle Grade and Children's book blogs also have the same public library "vibe", and if you think this is the blog that showcases my "personality leakage", you have never stumbled upon my personal blog (view at your own risk). :)

  9. I didn't get any haters... yet. I can't believe the audacity of some people. I guess in their world they are perfect, so let's point out what we think others need to fix. Personally, don't take it personally. Avoid negative people and comments and don't fee into them. They obviously have nothing better to do with their time, like read.
