I only had the heart to type like one paragraph after that and then the blog owner totally misunderstood what I was saying. Lol. Yes, I loved Wicked! It was all about the politics of Oz. After I said I was going to read all of his FT retellings I wanted to kick myself because I really had no idea how many there were. I was relieved there was only one more (Mirror, Mirror) than I already knew about. Phew!La La in the Libraryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18253014225202985934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724983676382927825.post-53676845720462683142015-01-14T11:46:45.026-05:002015-01-14T11:46:45.026-05:00Ahhhhh daaaamnnnn. Let's see...I think the fir...Ahhhhh daaaamnnnn. Let's see...I think the first bit was mostly me going yay fairy tale retellings are my fav! And that the only reason I consistently read more high fantasy than fairy tale retellings is that there's simply more high fantasy out there, especially as I've demolished pretty much all of the staples of fairy tale retellings.

And then I talked a lot more about Gregory Maguire, but I'm going to just sum it up
1. Gregory Maguire is definitely a mixed bag for me
2. I LOVE Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister - it's my favourite of all his works (although Egg & Spoon was really good too, and all sorts of fun absurd)
3. I honestly can't remember like...ANYTHING that happened in Wicked. It just left no impact, which seems weird since it's his most famous work. And I've consistently liked each sequel less and less, so I've abandoned the series.
4. Mirror, Mirror is....interesting. I don't know that I exactly liked it, and I didn't dislike it...it's just...well, interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing what you think on that one!
5. Overall his writing style seems like it's a you sort of thing and that's pretty consistent across the board (although Confessions is probably his tamest work), so I think you'll at least like the books (especially since it sounds like you enjoyed Wicked?). Or at least I hope that's the case since you're planning on reading them all!Elizabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17058009271288566400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724983676382927825.post-22817452579505024422015-01-14T11:41:19.654-05:002015-01-14T11:41:19.654-05:00BLOODY HELL DID GOOGLE DELETE MY COMMENT?! It would be the "World Hop Challenge" where the reader will have to read a book translated into English from another country per month. Not sure if it has been done before, but /shrug/ like I said, it's more personal than anything else ;)

Faye at The Social PotatoFaye M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/01482378962410177583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724983676382927825.post-86136159769806458372015-01-08T01:15:55.087-05:002015-01-08T01:15:55.087-05:00Thanks lovie! *wuzzies*Thanks lovie! *wuzzies*La La in the Libraryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18253014225202985934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724983676382927825.post-30872981022133807602015-01-07T23:18:25.590-05:002015-01-07T23:18:25.590-05:00This feature is in good hands :-)This feature is in good hands :-)Britthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08179222669149836812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724983676382927825.post-36430192876040528892015-01-07T20:37:54.431-05:002015-01-07T20:37:54.431-05:00Phew, I got tired just reading about all those cha...Phew, I got tired just reading about all those challenges! After the ARC August challenge sucked the life out of me last year, I am hesitant to try any that don't encompass the books I am already i going to read. I have started my audiobook library, but I only have nine books so far and I haven't figured out how our library's audiobook lending system works, yet. Good luck on all of these and thanks for the visit. :)La La in the Libraryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18253014225202985934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724983676382927825.post-18041964056434807372015-01-07T10:14:38.400-05:002015-01-07T10:14:38.400-05:00There weren't a lot of the long yearly challen...There weren't a lot of the long yearly challenges that appealed to me. Most of them were too simple for what I do for the year. As of right now, my main one is my GoodReads, and along with that one the "You read how many books" which is basically the same as the GoodReads challenge, only for readers who read 150+ a year. My goal is 200, though that's low/average for me. After that, I'm doing the audiobook challenge. I got into audiobooks the end of 2013 and listened to 106 last year, so I'm aiming for over 100 again. That's it right now. I prefer the smaller stuff like the Bingo challenges, which I've joined the New Years Edition one which lasts 3 months. I MAY join in one of the series challenges. The one I wanted to join isn't running again this year, so I am looking to see if I want to join one of the others, to help me with series that I need to wrap up.

Right now, I'm doing BoB and I'm currently listening to Into the Gauntlet ~ the 10th 39 Clues book and for my Kindle book I am reading Lexicon by Max Berry. I'm listening to Gauntlet because I wanted to finish out the first series of 39 Clues during this BoB, and I'm reading Lexicon because it was the book that my hubby picked out for me to read next for BoB. I can't even think about it. Maybe it's my age, lol. WICKEEEEEEEEED!! I know, I was shocked to find out a lot of people didn't like it. I think it is a case of them wanting it to read like YA. I wish people would stop reading Adult books and giving them bad reviews because they don't read like YA, and vice versa! I even saw a review the other day that gave one of my favorite Children's books two stars because the book was "childish", um yeah, 'cause it's a CHILDREN'S BOOK!!!!La La in the Libraryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18253014225202985934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724983676382927825.post-78401049800323578182015-01-07T05:44:02.244-05:002015-01-07T05:44:02.244-05:00I adoooore you GIFs for this post!! Oh dear I so want to re-read Wicked, it's one of my favourite books (and of course I adoooored the musical) but it's in one box somewhere, so until I can move and start unpacking book boxes, I cannot!

I have signed up for 5 challenges, and one of them, the 105 challenge has 14 different catergories, so I feel I cover loads of stuff with that one alone!Pilihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05235628363081574896noreply@blogger.com
