TELL ME TUESDAY #27

TELL ME TUESDAY is a feature that oozed from the fried brains of myself and my best blogging buddy, after a mind twisting Armchair BEA Twitter party.  It is a weekly, or bi-weekly feature (depending on your reading style), where you tell us what you are reading now, and why, and what you will be reading in the future from your tbr pile, and why. I am oh so curious why people read what they read. So tell us!!

And a big shout-out to my one and only feature follower, Pili from IN LOVE WITH HANDMADE.

Right now I am reading COMPULSION by Martina Boone.

This YA Paranormal is so good it makes me want to go to Goodreads and take away stars from some of the other Para YAs I have read. I love it so much I am going to join the street team to pass the word (and some goodies) around.

I should be finished today.

LET'S DANCE!!!!

I saw this next book pop up in a Netgalley email as a Read Now. The Witch of Napoli. It is an Adult book and I try to have an Adult novel going most of the time. The synopsis made it sound wonderful.

However, the publishing date is in two days. I was asking around Twitter if anyone had read it to feel out whether it was worth my time to turn it over that quickly. No one had, but I am going to give it whirl anyway.

I will also be reading The Raven Boys, soon.

Amanda, at Of Spectacles and Books, is giving away books in return for guest reviews. You should go check out her blog and email her to find out what books are still available!

Do you read many adult books?

  1. YAY for reading Compulsion!! I really enjoyed it and I cannot wait for book 2!!!

I haven't heard from the book before but if you like it and there's not much witch hunting (I deal very badly with that) I might give it a try!

I do read adult books now and then to change things up a bit, I have a few urban fantasy series and paranormal ones that I follow, and this year I've decided to read more MG and also go back to reading some more non-fiction, since it's been a while!

  2. Lauren DeStefano has a MG coming out that looks wonderful (it also helps that I have loved/really liked all of her other books) called A Curious Case of the In-Between. It is about a girl named Pram who can talk to ghosts (which I find hilarious because Lauren vehemently does not believe in ghosts). I keep looking for it on EW because that's where the ARC of Burning Kingdoms popped up. I will tell you all about the witch book when I am done. *wuzzies*

  3. I've heard Compulsion is really good, and I don't much about it so I might have to see if my library has a copy. I'm currently reading Razor's Edge by Martha Wells, it's a Star Wars novel and so far it's pretty good. I have no idea what I'll be starting after this,, though I did get a text message today telling me three boxes were delivered so I think I might finally be able to read Ensnared!

    1. ENSNARED!!!!! I have a friend from MyLeaky that devours the Star Wars books. I might try one some day because I was told if I loved Tin Star and Stone in the Sky I would like them. Compulsion is only $1.99 as an ebook right now. That is why I am reading it! I feel bad because I usually don't like YA Paranormal and just nodded politely at everyone who was recommending it before. It is not you typical Para YA. Thanks for the visit. :)

  5. Hell yes for better sequels, especially when the first one was a goodie! I am looking forward to Persuasion.

  6. I'm doomed. Absolutely doomed. Google HATES me and DELETES ALL MY COMMENTS.
    1. Spirited Away gifs!!! Spirited Away is tied with The Cat Returns as my favourite Studio Ghibli film.
    2. I can't wait to see what you think of The Raven Boys! I didn't like Maggie Stiefvater's fae series AT ALL, so I'm glad I was finally convinced to read this series, because the writing is so freaking beautiful. It's like it's a completely different author! I now vow to not outright refuse to read authors' books if they're written far enough apart that there might be improvement.

  7. The Cat Returns looks wonderful! I have never seen it, or the movie it was based off of. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service are my two favorites. I would say Grave of the Fireflies, but I was only able to watch it once because I cried for hours afterwards. I will be reading The Raven Biys soon because I am doing that guest post.

    1. ...I had no idea it was based on anything!! I'm going to have to see if I can find a translation of it. I'd recommend the dub because it has CARY ELWES (be still my heart!) and it turns out that Anne Hathaway is actually a really great voice actress! But mostly, Cary Elwes. Yeah, I haven't been able to bring myself to watch Grave of the Fireflies yet for that very reason haha

    2. I actually prefer dubs, but a lot of my favorite anime series never get dubbed. :(

  8. Half of what I read is adult books! And I know what you mean about loving a book so much in a particular genre you feel like you should subtract stars from other books you've read in the past because they just can't compare! pspssssst I LOVE Spirited Away and those little dust sprites....oh how I love them....

    1. I rented Spirited Away to watch when my son was in middle school, and we have been hooked on anime ever since. We started watching anime series, too. I actually figured something out the other day; most of my favorite YA books are the ones that read more like Adult fiction. Thanks for dropping by. :)
